recent add of 2250 tuner in a dell xps 8500 i7 12 ram 2tb with radon 2g graphics

Closes program when channel surfing with  j river remote and then only button that works well is vol use of any other may/will close program

I only use tuner for astc channels no other

theater view for tv doesn't play tv picture & guide has no times

my x_enlarge control shifted to the left top corner & I lost my tool bar with my view tab? I have yet to figure it out (operator error )

other audio/video parts work normal

color needs extreme adjustment to get close to right then when you go back to home screen you have to adjust back.  This adjustment is being made on the monitor itself.

Program guide skipping channels.  Example:  I get 11.1, 11.2, 13.2, 13.3 and no 13.1 at random time slots.   Program guide just looks like random jibberish as it is not complete and skips times, hours of programming. 

Popping sounds in some channels

When recording from guide don't get what is recorded on guide, get different channels, then selected.  If I set recording for a program that lasts 1 hour it only records for maybe 20 minutes.  Recordings never match the times that they should.  Sometimes they're shorter sometimes they're longer. 

Tuner has latest drivers in it available from the internet that were removed and reinstalled repeatedly.  J River was removed and installed repeatedly.  Im running 18.149

Have crash report for mad TV but that was on 18.146

Are you saying the program crashes when you press a button on remote?  I am not seeing that.

theater view for tv doesn't play tv picture & guide has no times

Make sure you explore all display options in Theater view.  On top of the menu is Time, and More.  Under Time, there are "guide", "search", "time", etc.

Do you use over-the-air programming guide or xmltv guide?  The former is known to be incomplete from time to time.  It is better to use the latter.  Is the channel 13.1 listed in the standard view?  If you use xmltv guide, is the channel associated with an xmltv ID when you loaded the program guide?

did have crash when  channel changing with remote have report but was coulpe days back on.146

now has just stops working & closes ,when program ends or is stopped or deleted

was under the impression that xmltv had to do with cable (will try thanks)

normaly you see _( reduce/enlarge)* & X top right upper most corner of screen mine is now on left side

*reduce/enlarge button two square intertwined boxes located between __ & X

toolbar with view is gone I must Ctrl+4 to get to theater view

one more thing do you need a constant internet feed 24/7 for this stuff to work?

can't load xmltv ,asking for info I don't have

top buttons & tool bar ok now

that xmltv wants something I don't have a clue what it is ( sorry but seems to relate to a pay cable & I don't have that just an OTA antenna) & if it did retrieve a "cable guide'' I believe the channels numbers wouldn't be right? then do i manually correct them?

I only get temporary /interment internet service here . So I don't know if this is necessary for recording or not?

I take my CPU to a good internet conn. for updates & downloads (35 mi. away)

just closed again "stopped working" in theater view .Had one show recording wanted to watch it to see if it was in fact correct & it closed

ALso recent recording would not play got error message

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

When you manually start "Load Program Guide...", you are given several choices.  The top choice, "Download EPG automatically (recommended)" should be used normally (it actually uses a form of xmltv data).  The second choice "Over the air signal (ATSC only)" is the only choice that does not use xmltv.  The third choice "XMLTV" requires you to have some sort of data that you obtain from third-party supplier.  If you do not know how to use it, that is fine.  The next choice "mc2xml" uses a program called mc2xml to obtain such data.  It is quite similar to choice 1.

So, with the first option, all you need to do is to supply the following:  Country - United States,  Postal Code - your zip code,  and Provider - Digital Terrestrial Lineup.  On the next step, you can try clicking "Auto Match" if you think some channels are not connected with their guide data.  If necessary you can also do manual matching.  For example, find your channel 13.1 and make sure it has guide data connected with it.  If next to channel 13.1 are the words "(click here to configure)", you should click and choose correct guide data.

No.  But when downloading guide data using a method other than over-the-air, you do need internet.

Oh, you are talking about Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons (see attached image)?  Strange.  What skin are you using?

thanks for efforts i got bad mojo on my end ,i've reboted 200 time in 2 days

when i try to do that xmltv thing the load program box is cut off just after the xmltv choice box

pesently can't update guide

now my audio closes down too  ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Did you change the font used in MC?  If so, try changing it back to default font.

I meant the font setting in MC, Tree & View > Select font... (default is 9 point) and Theater View > Appearance > Select font... (12 point)

Was watching recorded tv when it got to the programs end .Pop up box states mc18 is closing windows will look for a fix .New box windows related refused to close .CPU then tabbed out ,like 60 tabs opened in few seconds CPU was totally unresponsive had to unplug .I believe I logged a report but know not how to send it

Your log files do not contain any reference to watching any video, or doing any TV related activities.  Maybe you restarted MC a couple of times since you had trouble with watching recorded TV show?  If so the previous log would have been lost because MC starts a new log session upon starting.

Next time when you encounter problems, go straight to Help > Logging... and send the logs right away.

On the brighter side the guide in theater view seem complete & looks nice

Recordings are working spot on

But keeps closing when viewed recording ends or delete is pressed ( always )

along with random audio play closings

The CPU goes out to pro for debugging & stripping.Way too much weird stuff going on now, had recording not stop & other strange items.

Believe all this grief caused by a bug?

I am still not sure if there is a bug in MC as I have not been able to see the same problems on my machines.  Thanks for your patience, and don't hesitate to post here when you see problems.

When I say bug I didn't mean in the mc18 program itself.

I have the google chrome redirect bug & also maybe a Trojan

That was why I ask awhile back as to virus programs

I use only Essentials & now no more chrome browser (I will miss it )

I'm back after recreating the thing that closed mc before it just froze on end of viewed recording (tv) control not responsive but remote control power button shut down CPU started up ok no Boxes about incorrect shut down. Then while sitting idle in tv on recordings screen got close message again .upon starting mc back up new update of mc 18 self employed its self?

Automatic update, once downloaded, will run in two ways - when you click the Install button while MC is still running, or when you close and restart MC.

so now I need to make sure to shut off internet connection before opening J river? because I don't want this happening .I never set this up this way , is this by default?

Once I find a version that works for what I want MC to do I will stop updates.

currently this is not the case. But I want to do this manually ?
