I am trying to use the Alpha version of JRiver for Macintosh.

All music is on network drives on PCs, shared via SMB.

When the Mac boots it has been directed to automatically login to the Windows shares.  A finder window is visible after logon on the Mac.  Each Finder Window has to be closed for each folder that I am automatically loggin on to.  (Sorry about all the preposition)

(Realizing that the JRiver is an alpha version) -> JRiver does not appear to find the music until I physically click on the specific folder where it resides on the network.  JRiver E. there tells me that music is not found, gives an error (0) (as I remember), or does nothing.

Is this expected behavior?

Is this a networking issue?  A Mac issue?  A JRiver issue?  A fixable issue?

Try setting up autoimport.  It's under Tools/Import.

And, if it's not too much trouble, we have changed how we write JRiver.

I am not sure I was clear
The music has been imported.
The music is in the library.


But when I turn off the MAc, turn it back on (which does the auto logon to the Windows shares) -> no play.

If I then Explore/Find the Shares' folders -> music plays.  (At least I think this is the solution for the problem.)

Music now plays fine - > until I turn off the Mac.  then I have to through the scenario all over again of Explore/Find the Shares' folders.

Will autoimport solve these issues?

Even with iTunes I have to reconnect to shares every boot or playback fails.  I couldn't find a way to say 'Always make this available' like on Windows.  I was told "just write a shell script."

Am I missing something?

Under User & Groups, you can define startup objects.
Drives are possible, too.

On a german Mac it looks like this:



The drive is then connected automatically after each restart.

That is what I have done to "reconnect" to the Network drives at Startup.  Is there another method to be used? 

As I remember the left hand column says "Hide".  What is hidden?

After reboot, all of the Shares have an Open Finder Window on the desktop that has to be closed.  Can this be eliminated also?

Go look at the response you got to your duplicate posting on computeraudiophile. The solution worked find for me
