watching video by DLNA DAC
« on: April 19, 2013, 09:45:37 pm »

MC plays my videos fine so long as they are on "Player" - USB to external DAC to computer speakers.  Wwhen I click on DAC, and video, I get a list of videos, but MC won't open any of them. Screen completely white.   If MC can find, recognize and play a movie on "Player" why cant it do so when output is via DAC/network?

Doesnt matter when the movie is mp4 or avi.
MC 18/windows 7 64 bit

thanks

DLNA and local DACs are totally different animals at a technical level.  DLNA works on files.  Local DACs work on a stream of data.

So video will only work with DLNA if your DLNA device does video.  Things like a PS3, Sony BD player, X-box, etc.  There's no practical way to send a DLNA device only the audio stream from a video.

In a home theater installation, where video is important, a DLNA audio DAC doesn't make any sense in my opinion.

You might Google a bit about DLNA to get a better picture of what's happening behind the scenes (if such things interest you).

My oppo is a video player as well as handling sound well. I would like to play my video files from my library server, only I can not.

You may need to convert the files.  MC's DLNA settings allow that.  Make sure you have the latest version.
