3. Fixed: When increasing the size of image-based subtitles using the 'Size' setting, a subtitle could get too large to fit on the video and get truncated (now the subtitle will not be sized beyond the point of filling the video).

1. Changed: Removed 'Level' tool from DSP Studio > Room Correction.  Please use the newer Audio Tools > Advanced Tools > Audio Calibration... > Volume calibration to perform calibration.
2. Changed: The 'Tone' tool in DSP Studio > Room Correction uses instrument grade -20dB narrow band pink noise instead of full spectrum pink noise.
3. NEW: Theater View television guide has a 'To Be Recorded' view (requires resetting Theater View views in Options > Theater View > Reset!...).
4. Changed: Added a 'Record' item that shows more detailed status about recording to the Theater View TV Guide file info template (requires a reset of File Info templates in Options > Theater View > Customize file info panel... > Manage > Reset All Templates To Default).
5. Fixed: Ceton InfiniTV (and other OpenCable devices) did not work in non-time-shifting mode.

1. Fixed: M4A / ALAC tagging reading and writing could be problematic if the 'Play files from memory' option was enabled.
2. NEW: DLNA server, add advanced option that allows the server to passthrough DoPE compliant files.

If i control MC 18 on HTPC through my Tablet (MC 18),the playback bar in theater view (List) on Tablet is not following the marked song in the list, when the next song starts.
Very annoying.So background images are always the same from the first played song (Artist).

Updated both to 171 and now it's even worse than before.MC on Tablet reacts slower than before when i try to control HTPC with it.With 170 i heard a sound when song was changing in the list but the playback bar didn't move.
Now,nothing happens,no sound,no movement.
Starting a movie on tablet from HTPC takes ages until playback starts on tablet.And locks up MC until the movie starts.
With 170 i had only one little problem,described above,but now it isn't funny to use MC HTPC through tablet.

A bug I have just come across when trying to manage my ever-increasing music library is that the Dropdown-style Panes view doesn't work correctly.
If I have four categories set up in it, for example: [Album Artist (Auto)], [Album], [Year], [Keywords]
The first three categories all show the results for [Album Artist (Auto)], and the fourth one (keywords) shows the results for [Album]


On a similar note, the dropdown-style panes view has a search field at the top of each category - perhaps it would be useful to have that in the regular panes view?

Yep, still happening here. I have an Nvidia graphics card with the latest drivers installed - I don't know if it is exclusive to them or not.

I just had 171 eat a WAV+CUE file I pulled off one of my old drives. (gapless playback used to be such a nuisance)
I was converting to ALAC with the Replace original file on disk and in library option, four at a time, and after the fourth file the other conversions failed because it had deleted the WAV.

This has not been a problem with FLAC+CUE thus far, and I don't have a sample of it to upload. (I'll just have to rip the CD again - I don't remember what I used to create the original WAV+CUE files as it was probably a decade ago)

Handheld Sync

In experimenting with this function as a backup tool I found some glitches on first run.

Looks like Handheld Sync has some bugs which show some files as identical when fields are empty, but filename (path) is clearly different. Or, they all have just one field e.g. Track3.

Could Filename (Path) field be used as a fallback I wonder, or a default first field to check, when Artist/Album/Genre etc. are empty?

Just upgraded to 18.0.171 and can't run live tv now. When entering live tv I can hear one second of sound, but no video then application crash (there's LAVvideo.ax in the details box). Media Center 18.exe process still appears in processes window and can't be killed - I have to restart PC to run MC18 again.
My graphics card is AMD 6310 integrated in AMD E350 APU and STB is connected via Hauppauge HD PVR. I use Red October Standard. Tried video clock on and off and get app crash every time.

For now, you'll have to fill in metadata.

With handhelds, the metadata (artist, album, name) is what defines what an audio file is as opposed to the filename.

This has some overlap with a handheld thing I want, but I don't think it will happen for a while:

Do you get a crash playing non-TV video files?  Is it related to any particular video options?  You indicated that you have tried video clock.  What about hardware acceleration?

Not sure what has changed in these last versions but J River is very flaky with this crash and the library change crash reported earlier.

I always use hardware acceleration because this cpu is too slow for software video decoding. I checked different types of video  incl. avi/divx, mpg/mpeg2, m2ts, bdmv and when I clicked mpeg file then message appears "adding required components" or something like that, then after playing for few seconds I tried to play live TV and it worked the first time since upgrade to 18.0.171, then I stopped, switched to theater view and play live tv again and app crash Maybe there is an AMD related bug in latest LAV Video codec. Now I reinstalled 18.0.170 and TV works ok.

I have also noticed some strange behavior when switching between libraries in the last few builds. I used to be able to switch libraries quickly and then the library I switched to - would always "land" on the same view  (like Recent Albums for example) that I was on in the previous library.

Now when I switch - MC seems to grind away for 5 or 6 seconds and then when it finally does make the switch - the library opens with a blank tab - with nothing on it.

EDIT: It takes about 10 seconds and a webpage that looks like the JRiver Media Center web page finally opens and the tab title says "Start".

However - I specifically have MC set in Options (under Startup Interface) to go to Audio - and to never go to "start" . But these last few builds seem to send me there anyway?

I only have two libraries and both library filesets are on this local machine. Do I have a setting messed up somewhere?

That's correct. I've just found another CUE which makes JRiver crash. Again, two conditions must be verified: a FILE line which points to a .wav file AND a COMMENT line with an internet address in it.
If you either change the reference from .wav to, for example,.flac or remove the comment line, everything's fine.
You should be able to reproduce the problem easily.

That was kind of an amazing one.

We use a special XML filename format that can contain metadata.  The comment gets embedded in a special XML filename during import.

When the comment referenced a URL, it caused some filename parsing code to incorrectly think the XML filename was a URL.

Next build:
Fixed: CUE files that contained URLs in comments could lead to a crash.

From Media Center 17.0.69:

Long time annoyance.  Open Options, immediately Cancel via Escape, MC asks to Confirm Save Changes.  There were none.

Repeat by:
  Ctrl-o
  Escape

Perhaps Options needs a dirty bit.

There's a 'Don't ask me again' checkbox you could use.  Or you could click 'OK' or 'Cancel' instead of closing.

I agree having a dirty flag would be better, but some of the pages check settings against the registry (which can be changed externally) among other things making this more complex than you might expect.

Ok, I'll adjust my annoyance knob and live with it.  I was hoping it might be a simple oversight/w a quick fix.
