1. NEW: When enabling Media Network, a wizard is shown that steps through starting the server, getting an Access Key, and selecting the best server for your renderer.
2. Changed: Consolidated the list of DLNA server presets and added a preset for Audiophile DACs.
3. Fixed: SSDP discovery (used by DLNA) was not working in some cases in builds 167 and 168.
4. Changed: DLNA options to be more descriptive of what's actually going on.

The easiest way to do this is to rename or remove the "~/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 18/Settings" either from a terminal window or the finder after unhiding the ~/Library directory.

I find that if minimized, after I'm done doing other work on foreground windows (mail, safari), then when I return to MC the window is hung with the minimize control hilighted in blue.  Have not found anything that works except to quit from the dock.  Music continued to play.

After playing just a few tracks (2-4) the sound goes all digitally raspy, as if the data stream is corrupted but not enough to stop trying too play, nor is anything crashing.  I'll hit the stop button, and then hit play with no problem.  Until it does it again in 2-4 tracks.

I played a different album.  It played fine.
I then played the album that went bonkers.  It played fine.

Go figure… :headscratch

I'll keep monitoring it and edit this post as needed.

I don't think it has anything to do with specific albums.  Sometimes a particular album will play fine and then it won't.  It's been a recurring problem that's never been fixed. I'm giving it a rest for a month and then come back to see if it's any better.

May I ask you if you can import and manage track files with embedded cover artwork showing thumbnails without problems ?

Check your settings.  MC won't write tag information to files if you tell it not to.

- Under "Options/General/Update tags when file info changes" the option is active.
- Under "Options/Library fields/Save in file tags (when possible)" the option is active for all relevant fields.

The effect of not saving the library changes to the files occurs with standard library fields and user defined fields as well.

When tagging, the status line says...

Saving tag changes (1 remaining)
Saving tag changes (2 remaining)
Saving tag changes (3 remaining)
.
.
.
Saving tag changes (10150 remaining)

... and so on. The number only gets higher, never lower.
After quitting MC the error message box pops up.

Restarting MC and doing "Update Library (from tags) resets the altered records to the former state in the library.

"Update Tags (from library)" does work correctly, however. All Data is written without any error.

After reinstalling MC 18.0.169 the errors don't appear any more (without having changed any option settings) and vice versa.

I think we've got this fixed for the next build, sorry for the trouble.  We had recently gotten 'exclusive write access' working for files on Apple, but that operation is not supported on network share type drives on Apple so it was causing tag writing to fail.

Options-->Audio-->Settings-->DSP and Output format...

The "DSP Studio" dialog box opens and stays behind the "Options" dialog box.

I don't think this issue is new to this version.

I'm still getting crashes while tagging local mp3s.  Not nearly as bad as with earlier builds, but every 10-12 albums that I'm going through causes a crash.  

Using OSX 10.8.3, autoimport is off.

Want more crash logs?  Anything I can try for you?

Can you get the problem to repeat reliably at all?  When a file crashes after tagging, will the same file cause a crash again with further tagging?  If so, could you send me a problem file and the tag changes that caused the crash?  johnt at jriver dot com

I wish it were in any way repeatable (at least that I can see) - after reopening I can always successfully tag the files that it crashed on. 

Here are the minute details:

- I am tagging with the taggin window (as opposed to directly in the list of tracks or in panes).
- I am taggin whole albums at once.
- Just before a crash, after editing a field and pressing return/enter, the field goes blank for about half a second and I know a crash is coming. 

Just now I produced a crash by opening the tagging window, clicked on the album artist (Auto) field and - without editing anything - pressed enter.  Blank, pause, crash. 

I re-opened and can select the field and press enter over and over and do not experience a crash.
