"Run auto-import in background" checked but not working
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:35:12 pm »

I found this thread, but it didn't seem to help much.  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=74853.0 I appear to have the same issue.

The only way to get MC17.0.189 to add new tracks in the auto import folders is to close MC and Media Server and restart MC.  Within a minute, new tracks will appear in my library, so I know auto-import is working; it just isn't working quite as automatically as it should be.

My settings:

Auto Import -- Run auto-import in background is checked
Configure Auto Import --> I've added D:\My Music, which is my main music folder for CD's that I've ripped, and D:\Rhapsody, which is where I store downloaded Rhapsody tracks. When I click either folder to select it and click Edit, the Mode selected is "Include this folder and all child folders." Under Import These File Types, Audio is checked. When expanded, all file types are checked, so it isn't skipping based on file type. "Ignore Files Previously Removed" and "Ignore Special Files" are both checked.  But I'm not trying to re-add files I've deleted before.

The issue occurs with both new Rhapsody tracks (which Rhapsody downloads to D:\Rhapsody) and tracks I copy to D:\My Music using Windows Explorer.

What are the filetypes?

mp3 and wma.

Like I said, all file types are checked in the options.

Often, when I can't import a file, I find that MC has already auto-imported it.

It's possible that files were placed under the wrong media type.  Video, for example.

Try a search for the files in MC.

There are not files that have already been imported.  They are files that have never resided on my computer before.  Like I said, they will import if I close and restart MC.  So why won't they auto import when they're transferred to my music folder?

I have no idea what you mean by this.  They are audio files, with .wma or .mp3 extensions.  Those file types ARE checked for the specified folders.

EDIT:  Do you mean that they would show up in the library under Video even though the files are actually audio files?

Just a stab... MC uses filesystem change notifications to notice changed or new files.  Does your D: folder live on a NAS?

No. All storage on this PC is local.

Create a new Smartlist.  Call it All Databases.  Configure it with a single Modifier (Limit database to ALL).

Look inside it for one of your files that you think does not exist in MC.  You can use the search box to help filter.

Do you see it?
