Been getting clicks and pops in MC
« on: July 25, 2013, 02:43:20 pm »

Recently I've been getting non-stop clicks and pops in MC. I get in MC17 as well as MC18, and I tried different audio drivers and buffer settings and turned off all DSP studio plugins, but nothing helped. I do not get this problem in other media player apps--it's only in MC. This problem only started recently and I didn't have this problem previous in all the years I've used MC. I also tried changing Windows' advanced systems settings to background services priority, and that didn't do anything. My DPC latency is decent--it never spiked into disruptive territory. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem, and the fact it only happens in MC is the reason why I'm posting about it here.

Are you using WASAPI?  If so, try the audio setting called "Disable Event Style".  Try DirectSound.

How about some basic details on your setup in terms of hardware?

What have you done to isolate potentially problem hardware?

This is happening in my system as well.  Sounds like data starvation.

System:
Jetway J9f2 Extreme Mobo
Intel Core 2 T7400 @ 2.16GHz
2 Gigs RAM
Running Music Either from USB or NAS

Plays fine running Windows Media Player.

Any Advice.  Ran Performance Monitor and don't see a problem with RAM, CPU or HD.

Thanks

I think I might have it somewhat figured out.

When I use my Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 soundcard, the problem is gone, but when I use my TC Electronics Konnekt Live (firewire), I get the problem.

I have used the Konnekt Live with other computer without any problem, so it has to be something about this computer. It might be the firewire to PCI-E card, so I'll see if its driver can be updated. But if that's not it, then I have no idea what to try next.
