High audio bitrates over the network comes out as MP3
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:00:02 pm »

I can't play high audio bitrates over the network.

I got PC1 and PC2 connected wireless. PC1 and a NAS in the same wired network.
The music is on the NAS.
A D/A converter is connected to PC2 via USB.
JRiver runs on PC1 and PC2. They are servers to each other.
PC2 uses PC1’s library file.

I would like to sit in front of PC1 and play on USB output of PC2.

When I sit in front of PC2 it's all right:
I play 44 KHz music using PLAYING NOW-PLAYING FROM PC1 and the D/A indicates 44 KHz.
I play 96 KHz music using PLAYING NOW-PLAYING FROM PC1 and the D/A indicates 96 KHz.

But…
When I sit in front of PC1:
I play 44 KHz music using PLAYING NOW-PLAYER(PC2) and the D/A indicates 44 KHz. OK!
I play 96 KHz music using PLAYING NOW-PLAYER(PC2) and the D/A indicates 48 KHz. And the PC2 monitor indicates 320 kbps MP3 output. Not OK!

There are no settings in TOOLS-OPTIONS-SETTINGS-DSP&OUTPUT FORMAT for MP3 so I can't see any problem there.
TOOLS-MEDIA NETWORK-CLIENT OPTIONS-AUDIO CONVERSION-CONVERSION is set to DON’T CONVERT AUDIO.

Did I miss a setting somewhere?
Please help!

It sounds to me like you're pushing from PC1 to PC2 using DLNA.

When doing this, the server settings of PC1 determine the format.  Configure the audio conversion in Options > Media Network > Add or configure DLNA servers... > Audio on PC1.
