Just performed a new installation yesterday.

Pointed it to my Music folder (On my Synology NAS DS1512+).

Managed to play a few tracks but it crashed a number of times and had a lot of buffering for some of my higher bitrate and Surround files (The reason I am trying JRiver in the first place).  After restarting the computer now I can open the program but any attempt to play an audio file results in the aforementioned crash.

Full details from the event viewer log created during the crash:

Faulting application name: Media Center 18.exe, version: 18.0.206.0, time stamp: 0x51cc6935

Any help would be much appreciated.  I was really looking forward to using a media player than can send the unadulterated sound directly to my receiver.

Additional info:
Running Windows 8 64-bit
1.74TB Hard drive with 74GB Free
12GB RAM

Connected to my Receiver (Onkyo TX-NR1008) Via HDMI (EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti)

Let me know what else you need to help me?

Carl.

Try rebooting and resintalling.  Import a few files before you go on.

Try turning off visualizations (since it's crashing in vis_main.dll).

Try turning off visualizations (since it's crashing in vis_main.dll).

I didn't think I was running any visualizations?  But I was trying them out at one time.  Maybe it is still trying to use them.

I will give that a try and report back.

Ok when I open JRiver and go to the "Player" I am looking at a screen that says "Play Doctor" at the top.

Even with right click I don't see any options for visualizations.  As soon as I click on either play or double click a file in the play list I get the offending error message with the only options being "Debug" and "Close Program".

I am sure you are right in that it is visualizations that are causing this.  But how to turn them off before starting to play a track?

Ok.  Managed to get it working again.

Backed up library, Performed full uninstall, Restart computer.  Re-Install.  Restore library.

Guess I will keep on testing.

Thanks for your help.
