How to print library list?
« on: September 01, 2013, 06:45:29 pm »

In iTunes there is a way to actually print your library.  I like to have a copy of that in PDF for insurance reasons.  Is there a way to do this in JRiver?  I've looked and looked but can't seem to find anything.

There may be a better way from within the program, I am no expert, but if nothing else works you can always copy and paste into another program.  I tested this with Excel before responding and it works just fine (although I tested on a PC not a Mac).  I hope this helps.  Kent

Today's tip, short and sweet, is about how to create a view that you can use as an Album Inventory.  Although it has been a while since the question has been asked on Interact, it nonetheless comes up fairly often.

...

5. Right-click the first column header in the view, and both deselect Image (large thumbnail) and select Image (small thumbnail).
...

I'm already confused on step 2.

Where do I do that here:

It appears the Mac version does not yet have the sample views to select from.

Just use a blank view, and set the name.

Next, under Show Categories In This Order, click Add, and select Album from the Select Field area.

How does this look boss?

Now all I need to figure out is how to get it to my other computer which has Excel or Numbers on it.  THIS is why it should be a File > Print > Save As > PDF option.   ;D

Just select your Albums up top, or your Files below (depending upon what you want to catalog), and Copy.  Then, save the data to a file.  This file will be a Tab-Separated-Values file you can import into another program elsewhere.

That's the problem though, I do not have any way to save it here that I know of.

A program like TextWranger is fine.

Or you could install LibreOffice to have a spreadsheet program which works like Excel.

LibreOffice looks perfect.  Thanks.

So, I just go to Edit > Copy and paste into Libre?

Yup.

When you paste, Calc will ask you the format of the values.  Select Tab as the delimiter.

I have "Album Inventory" and "All Albums" selected and all that pastes into Libre is "Album Inventory".

You have to select a list of items, either the Categories while in a Details list view, or the files in the file list.

Once selected and copied, you can see the selections on the clipboard in Finder's Edit > Show Clipboard.

Be sure you create your Album Inventory view as a Categories view (Customize View, View As > Categories).

This really should be built in.  It's a total PITA to update every time.
