Option to use Google to download images/theater view...?
« on: September 14, 2013, 09:15:43 am »

I had this option before, but now I can't find it!
MC downloads Google images when playing audio in theater mode and slide-shows them in the background.
Help?!

This should be automatic.  What does it show instead?

I thought I saw an option before for it, and I switched it off because, while listening to Beck, it pulled an image off Google of some chic with the name "Beck" lol.
There were other options (I think) for sites like CDDB or the like...
Which does a good job of getting related images...but not a lot of them.

Is it possible to enable this feature in Display View (Ctrl +3)?
I do not use Theater View but would like to see this as an option. Just double-click on the album cover and google will fix the rest. :)

Ah ha! You were right.  Try [Options > Theater View > Appearance > Theme: Online Media Slideshow].  From there you should be able to choose the source.

I'm no more able to get images for theater view slideshow from Google. I unchecked and checked "Google Images" in Options>Theater View>Appearance>Theme>Online media slideshow with no effect.
Is Google blocking something? Is there another setting that could affect this?
Images from Last FM are too poor...
Thanks

Confirmed. Uncheck all options except Google (which is a pain to do btw) and no images are downloaded.

In an upcoming build:
Fixed: Loading images for Theater View Media Slideshow from Google was broken since October, due to a change in Googles website.

Finding a couple small bugs and squishing them is easy, and good for learning the code... :)

Easy for you, but a big deal for customers.  Some of the things you've tackled so far may be nit-picky, but they are items I've seen come up in multiple threads, some dating back to MC17/18.

Just saying that it's noticed and appreciated.  Some times it's the small things that keep the customer satisfied.

Yes, this was very welcomed. Lots of small fixes, making a more polished MC for all of us.

Hi ,don't know exactly where I should post this but upgraded to jriver 19 and had chosen dsp over pcm protocol for setting on Auralic Vega dac.,worked great ,till there was an update and now the  protocol vanished.can't get dac to play dsd files without setting dsp to that setting, but then it tries to play reg cds in that format. Are there different setting to use ?

Thanks

I'll split this to a new thread.  I think you mean DSD, not dsp.  Check your audio settings.

Google changed their website again, and from a first look they massively rely on JS to load the images now - there don't appear to be actual image links on the website I get on a first call.
This may take a while to fix again, if sanely possible at all.

It wouldn't be so bad if Last FM worked more reliably.  I can fix the misspellings that go on but I can put the exact spelling in, especially on a single artist (ie Brook Benton) and it doesn't work every time.  Or the three different artists that go by "Ace" where you get what you want.

I know it is difficult working with other sites like ALL Music, Google, You-Tube, etc. that change their code/entry data, but is there not a way for a centralized DB for JRiver to set-up or a way for a user to download their own art/images to use with Theater view?

I found a way to work around the breakage, and Google Images should be working again in an upcoming build.

I actually find bing's image search slightly better than Google's.  Any way to implement that?
