alphabetical search for theater view media center 19
« on: September 28, 2013, 01:40:58 pm »

hello all,

I really need some help here, I am doing a show house and I want to use a 24 inch touch panel computer running J river 18 or 19 and using Theater view, the problem is theater view does not have a bar where you can search by letter to get to the artist or album.

I want J River to work like a Qsonix or Soolos Media server, help?

Would it be sufficient to have a listing such as the attached screenshot?

in fact I am willing to bet dealers would pay money to have J River functioning with the ease of a Qsonix.

For example when you load a disc it automatically goes out to the internet and pulls album and meta data, if the album art isn't available directly it launches google and finds input.

You may need to use JRiver Media Center a little more.

Except for this minor problem, how else can we (other users like you) help?

You can help by showing me how to make the software work in this manner:

Theater view is great, for a touch panel there needs to be a bit of an alley in the middle of the cover art so you can scroll up without selecting disc minor issue

Main issue is a full screen cover art title mode like what is on the Qsonix screen with alphabetical search that is not file based meaning that you see on screen the artist and then you click it, you don't have to open up a folder and then search.

I would like to still try to see how to set up my machine like what you have.

I love MC and I use it in my shop to demo high end audio equipment I think the market potential to sell more expensive versions of the software that run like a dedicated server are huge, in the high end audio market people pay $300 dollars just for an engine like Amara which improves the sound quality of a Mac.

Use a "flick" to scroll.  Touch and "throw".

You might also try Gizmo (Android) and JRemote (iOS).

Tools > Options > Theater View.

Configure as you see here, adding a new Library Item.  You might want to place the (second level) A-Z under Shows and/or Movies, or create a separate section like I've done here.

formatrange(FirstNotEmpty([Series], [Name]),1)
