Right now, my media laptop is in an inconvenient place (I have to sit on the floor). If I used JRiver Media Center exclusively, I could just use a remote. But I also use pandora, and it wouldn't be bad to use the TV as a monitor for the laptop either.

The Thing System might fulfill all these...

Or ... its just another Thing to fight with  ;D.

The idea is interesting though I am reminded of that office joke ... where 2 people talk about 15 different standards for some application and the other guy responds its rediculous. He replied they need something everyone can work with. The result? A 16th standard.
