Duplicates using 19.0.54
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:14:30 pm »

Hi

I am still having duplicates in my library with all file which are located on my NAS configured as a "portable device"
Auto import is set to "exclude" the drive - still all pop up double in library.

I had duplicates and turned Auto-Import off and also changed from \\networklocation to mapped drive and problem has not come back.

Do your dups have filenames listed in MC? Mine did not. Phantom dups.

It already is a mapped network drive, letter "v:" - that exact same drive is set to "exclude".

Yeah file names are listed - so those are real duplicates.

You mention using your NAS as a "portable device".  What does that mean?  Normally you use the handheld engine to sync content to a device, not browse / play on a device.

Also, I think you're saying you have two library entries under Audio in the tree with identical filenames, like V:\My Music\1.mp3.  Is that correct?

Do you have any idea what action causes the duplicates to appear?

Hi!

" Normally you use the handheld engine to sync content to a device, not browse / play on a device."

I also only use it for syncing. The drive is configured as a handheld and MC syncs a couple of playlists there.  Mediacenter does not play from that handheld/device. The NAS drive is for my Control4 system to have access to my music.

" Also, I think you're saying you have two library entries under Audio in the tree with identical filenames, like V:\My Music\1.mp3.  Is that correct?"

Yes your assumption is correct. For any file available on the NAS I have a duplicate entry in my MC library with the same filenames.
The NAS drive is, as said before, set to "exlucde" in auto-import settings.

I have this setup for about 2 years now and never experienced this. It somehow started with MC19 I think.

regards

Ok

it seems I am the only one with this issue.
I have switched back to v18 and everything is back to normal no duplicated even without setting the specific folder to "xeclude".
I will once in a while test v19 and report back. maybe it get's fixed by accident.

There is no duplicates problem in MC.  You may be importing the same directories from something like \\machine\my music and g:\my music.

I will check this. But am very sure i am not.

It is all fine with v18. The settings and library are imported correctly to v19, just this stupid issue.
But again I will check it.

Ok for what its worth:

neither of us was right or totally wrong:

There is no duplicate problem, but there also weren't any directories twice in the scanning process.

I removed v19, installed v18 and updated the library, re-installed v19 and all is good - what the heck.....!?
