Parametric Equalizer : help needed
« on: October 18, 2013, 04:21:47 pm »

Hello,

I've been trying to use the parametric equaliser for active filtering. I tried before, no success. I tought it might be a windows problemn (same computer used for many diffretn things for a long time).

So I decided to do a clean reinstall. Just the minimum : Win7 Ultimate x64, drivers, MC19.054.

The soundcard is an Echo Audiofire 12.

Here is what I'm trying to do :

Here is my JR setup (for music so far) :

and here what I've got in the Audiofire control panel :

so far so good... Left & Right channels seem to be copied to the sub channel (#4)

So I assume that copying the channels to 9 and beyond is not working ?

Am I missing something ?

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Use the Analyzer in DSP Studio and see if anything is happening. If you make it fullscreen, you should be able to see activity on channels 9 & 10. If you can view the channel activity in Analyzer, then JRiver is correctly copying the channels. If JRiver is okay, then maybe something is set wrong in the Audiofire control panel.

I just test 12 channels in my system and they copy fine to 9 & 10.

In JRiver, Rear Left and Rear Right are channels 5 & 6 and Surround Left and Surround Right are channels 7 & 8.

I notice your levels are set below 0 in the Audiofire control panel. I would recommend setting them to 0 and using JRiver for any channel attenuation.

Hello Mojave,

thank you very much for your answer.

As you can see in the enclosed screenshot, everything is Ok in the analyser :

And this morning, channels 9 & 10 are live and kicking in the Audiofire controle panel. I did not changed a thing from yesterday when I posted my previous message, apart from rebooting the PC and the soundcard. Very strange...

Concerning channel 12, still dead. I did try the #11, same thing, regardless of what I copy to these.

So I believe this is an Echo driver issue. I will check with them.

Thanks again and have a great week-end !

Hello here,

channel 12 was back after another reboot of the Audiofire.

I also had a feedback from the Echo support. It looks like I had a different version between the firmwire and the driver. So I slashed the firmware.

So far so good.

Sorry for this beginner's overlook (hence the pseudo...)  :-[

Take care
