Plug in download problems
« on: February 08, 2003, 05:35:33 pm »

Has anyone out there any experience with problems downloading plug-ins.  I have MJ8 installed (latest version) with authorization code.

When I go to the plug-in web site and try to download any plug in I get one of two results.

- A dialog box from the web server stating "Failed to connect to the server"
- or the standard download box but just sitting there and not receiving any data.

It has been suggested that I log in as administrator, but I am not running any Proxy or network internet explorer.  Just modem to a service provider.

Have no other problems downloading files or other access.

Please I need help bad !!!!!

Are you Using Microsoft Internet Explorer?

Yes \ No

If yes Make Sure It Is Version 5.0 (Maybe 5.5) Or Newer

In case anyone can help him here is some info he sent me in e-mail

Yes I am using Internet Explorer.
Do not know how or if I can send screen captures but:
Here are the two "message boxes" I get when attempting to download a plugin (MP3 encoder) as example:
Box one:
Title = DOWNLOADING
Package = MP3Encoder
Status = Connecting
Progress = no action
This is immediately followed by:
Box two:
Title = MJREADER
Text = Failed to connect to a server

In the interim is it not possible for me to get the ENC_MP3.ZIP file by some other means than described in your FAQ - which does not work.

I have the ENC_MP3.MJP as per instructions, but can not get the zip.

Is there any other way you can suggest that I may be able to get a little more effective way of support?  Can I pay for some somewhere ?

Anything Ple-e-e-e-e-e-ase

I do like the potentials of the program but at this rate it could take ?

Have you found the link to the plugin problems section on the FAQ?  It's under Help above.

As in reply #2, yes I have checked the FAQ area detailing how to download the .mjp and .zip files of the appropriate plug-in.  The sequence for obtaining the .mjp works ok, but the sequence for editing it and then downloading the .zip does not work.

Bottom line I can not get the .zip for the plug-in.

I am hoping that there is some other way of downloading the .zip file or something.

Someone suggested that the version of IE is important, was running 5.00.xxxx so I upgraded to 5.50.xxx with no change.

Someone at least at MJ tech support must have some idea on this other than refferrencing FAQ's etc. ?

Ple-e-e-e-e-ase help.

I would shure love to spend some time with the program rather than spending days on a message board trying to find the problems.

Pardon if I am a little fustrated - it is probably more at myself for not understanding

Either something is blocking it on your side or we have a bad link.

Please post the contents of the mjp file _before_ you've made changes.  Or post the link where you got it.

[Package]

URL=http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/enc_mp3.zip

Right after I posted the above content of the file, right out of the message board I copied the appropriate address into the address in IE and 'was' able to get the enc_mj3.zip file.
Now editing the .mjp and then executing it I got an information dialog as follows:

More Info: Failed to register object. Error 1157
C:Program files\Media Jukebox\Plugins\enc_mp3.dll

checking the above directory both the .dll and the Lame.exe had been unzipped there correctly (I assume)

So close now !!! --- any idea on error 1157.

Thanks so much for bearing with me.

The download portion is this:

http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/enc_mp3.zip

Does that work for you?  Using IE?

Also had the same problem, but fixed.
I guess it's just a laungage problem.

Check the name of directory where you are going to download plug ins.
If you use different laungage except English, you cannot download the plug ins.
After your right clicked-download, put the plug ins just below your local drive. Then open the file.
