Can MC19 control a McIntosh MVP891 Blu-Ray - Media Player??
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:01:40 am »

I am new at this...and am loving what I have so far - a Synology NAS feeding the Media Player in a McIntosh MVP891 (then to pre-pro with excellent DAC's).
The software controlling the McIntosh Media Player is the same as in the Marantz UD7007 I returned before selecting the 891.  The Media Player software is old, clunky and basically nothing I want to use.  McIntosh says "we aren't changing it, just patching it".  Bad product; bad attitude given the $$$ spent.
So I hope MC19 is my answer.  Will it work with the McIntosh?  I am not sure if it is a renderer or not and McIntosh has not really answered that.  So if anybody here has had MC19 operating the Marantz UD7007, I would expect it could operate the McIntosh too.  If not, the McIntosh may have to be returned.
If MC19 can work for me please advise.  Also would appreciate any advice on configuring MC that might not be obvious to a newbie.
Thx!!

I downloaded JRiver MC19 and am trying it.  No problems getting the database populated and playing music, etc. on the local PC.
But when I click on Playing Now to identify the MVP891 as a Renderer I can't see it...no idea of how to make it appear!
Any magical formula to making this work??
Thx,

The article called "Media Network" on our wiki will explain how to set it up.

Thanks so much for the direction.  I will go read it now.

Jim:
I have read and tried the Wiki Media Network info.  Maybe the MVP isn't a renderer.
When I click "playing now" I see various DLNA devices appear but not the MVP.  Is there some way I could "see" the device?
Thx,
Bob

If it doesn't show up, it is probably not a DLNA Renderer.  There are two places you can learn more.  One is the DLNA official site and the other is McIntosh.  And then there will still be some uncertainty.

Searching the Internet might also help.

Jim.
Searching the DLNA.org site turns up nothing from McIntosh.
I am in touch with them and hope that maybe some newly released software from D&M Holdings who provided the current software can improve the situation.
Nice software on your site!!
Thanks for your help!
