[solved] Problems with podcasts
« on: November 21, 2013, 05:02:28 am »

I'm using MC for listening and organizing my podcast subscriptions. Six days ago it stopped working for the biggest german radio station. I'm unable to subscribe to any of the many podcasts. Is there something wrong on their side or is it something within MC? The podcasts are working fine in other applications.

Here are two links (of many):
http://podcast.wdr.de/radio/zeitzeichen.xml
http://www1.wdr.de/radio/podcasts/wdr5/zeitzeichen244.podcast

BTW: which one should I use within MC? Both are not working at the moment, but when they will again, which is the better/right one? Content is the same for both as far as I can see.

Same problem here!!

Could anyone from MC check the XML?

I wrote to WDR already describing the problem but they say its the software. There is another forum from squeezebox dealing with the problem:

Could anyone from MC check the XML?

Consider: MC is an application; JRiver is the company.

"WDR" is the biggest radio station here in Germany. Would be nice to be able to use them within MC again. As I said: I'm using another podcast app on my mobile without any trouble and within Opera 12 it is also working as expected so I suspect MC for messing something up.

I took a look at the xml files (comparing it to another working one) but I have no idea what I have to look for...

Problems like this in the past have often been a badly formatted time and date.

I compared the date formatting of two xml-files, but I couldn't find any difference.

Again: I have no idea what I have to look for exactly. But if I compare how dates are formated within selected xml files (working vs. broken) I cannot find any difference. Or are you talking about the formatting of any date outside the xml-file?

Working xml: http://podcast.hr2.de/derTag/podcast.xml
Broken xml:  http://podcast.wdr.de/radio/zeitzeichen.xml

Just to keep track on this one: since a few month it is fixed. I don't know if it was fixed server side (wdr) or on MCs side.
