Where is the MC Database? Failed hard drive issue
« on: November 21, 2013, 05:41:40 am »

I have just lost my hard drive.
I managed to restore a backup.
Of course this was from quite a few days ago.
I have made many changed to the MC19 database in that time.
All those changes are now lost [lost with the hard drive] Grrhh.

Where is the MC Database?
Perhaps then I can keep it on my data drive.
Yes I do have MC backups but they do not cover the period in question. Dunno why.

I want better control on the storing of the MC Database.
thanks,

Try restoring a backup of your library in MC.  MC makes them automatically.

@Micromecca, thanks most helpful.

This is on my OS drive...the drive that was lost.
My data is on my D:\drive.
How can I specify that the MC Library is stored on my data drive.

Yes I do have MC backups [on my data drive] but they do not cover the period in question. Dunno why.

With your library selected choose the 'Clone' Feature, you can then enter a new name and location for your Library.

The 8000A is a classic, I am currently using an 8000AP + 4 x 8000M's on my fronts and an 8000X7 powering my Center, Sides & Rears  :)

Thank you so much for your help Micromecca.
Following your instruction I have managed to clone my library to the data drive...and loaded it. Hooray!

What happens now to the Main Library. Surely updates and changes do not get written to both the new clone and the old main. I suppose main just becomes obsolete. Do I delete it? If so how?

I don't know if the original main library can be deleted, but you can clear it if you think its taking up a lot of space  :)
