Support DIAL protocol?
« on: November 22, 2013, 10:37:30 pm »

Found the following on a Google+ conversation.  Have you looked into supporting DIAL at all?

"The Chromecast uses the DIAL (DIscovery And Launch) protocol that was created by Netflix and YouTube. See: http://www.dial-multiscreen.org . This means that any device on your local network that advertises itself as a 1st screen for the DIAL registered app name (in this case, Netflix) will show up as a usable 1st screen for the content."

This would be a great way to get JRiver on any screen in the house.

Oh neat, I've been waiting for them to finally put out the full Chrome cast SDK. Definitely going to poke around in it.
At least for Gizmo it might be a nice addition to stream from the phone to a TV. The SDK doesn't have a real "Desktop" API, so not sure MC itself can use it much, but we'll investigate for sure.
