It starts off fine, then while browsing quite a lot of album art stops displaying gradually getting worse, any ideas?

How many albums do you actually have in that view?
I've navigated pretty big views myself and not really seen such issues here.

I have 455 albums loaded so far, each of them seperated by Genre or Composer etc.
It works fine initally but the more I browse the worst it gets.

Just to add , I have just noticed that sometimes when I play something not displaying album art instead of the usual now playing screen on my tablet I just get a blank screen. If I restart Gizmo it returns to normal.

Hendrik, I like how the image cache works now. It's a lot better when scrolling through a lot of artists/albums. One thing I would like to see is that cache maintained when browing into an artist. Let's say for example I scroll through my artists all the way down to Rush (assuming all of the artists before that selection are cached) and then browse through all of their albums and play a track. When I go back to the artists' list, it has to re-cache all of the artist's images. Would it be possible for that cache to remain while browsing into their albums to make Gizmo feel "snappier"?

The cache is limited by time as well as size to not take up too many resources.
I suppose I can increase the timeout a bit before art is cleared from the cache, so that browsing around feels smoother, but if you say browse one artist now and then come back an hour later, it'll always have cleared the art from the cache again.

Didnt really help, I was using the Gizmo version before this one, 19.0.107 when the problem started, but it worked fine for weeks and then just started doing it.
Now with the new version I have another problem, when I click to play any song on any album it says the name of the song then underneath ''working....'' then it changes to ''stopped'' , pressing the resume playback button has no effect at all.

Well the playback issue was sorted by switching on my external hard drive.

The album art problem is still there.
One thing I have noticed is when I am browsing, say ''genre'' to ''album artist'' then scroll through the albums, if any art is missing scrolling is very jumpy, stuttering.
In the album if no art is shown some songs have art beside them and some dont, when I click on a song that has no art the now playing screen is blank, just a white bar ontop of the screen.
Its as if Gizmo cant catch up and load the art quickly enough.

I opened Gizmo, went to 'Audio', then 'Album' then started to scroll down, I can see it loading the album art as I scroll down, about a quarter the way down it starts to miss some art then stops loading art altogether, at this point scrolling gets less fluid and starts stuttering. I am scrolling down quite slowley.
Is it possible that Gizmo is running out of storage space for the art?

What kind of phone do you have (and running which version of Android), and what kind of network connection are you using for Gizmo (WiFi, 3G, 4G)?

I created a view with 1000 albums, and I can scroll through it just perfectly.

I use a Nexus 7 tablet , Android 4.4.2, Connected through WIFI via a BT Home hub.
I'm wondering if my Nexus is having trouble downloading so many image files all at once?

What is a BT Home hub? If it's Bluetooth, that could be a problem.

On my old Samsung Galaxy Tab, scrolling fast will make it stutter a bit when it tries to load all these images, but as soon as I stop scrolling all the images will appear and everything functions perfectly.
Sadly I don't have a Nexus 7 at hand to test it there, but its a relatively recent device with up-to-date Android, so I wouldn't expect any issues. Running fine on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 as well.

I can investigate limiting the image download to a few at the same time instead of all at once like it appears to function today, but without actually having the issue on my devices, its all a bit problematic to investigate solutions.

Its a broadband router.
I have more or less the same set up with Foobar and its scrolling through the album art OK.

Could it be that most of my album art is stored in the folder with the album/songs however some is now stored in JRiver album art folder?

Oh no, not in an hour, maybe 20 to 30 seconds tops. I like to select tunes on the fly to play so it would be nice if it didn't have to refresh the artwork so often when I'm on my Galaxy S4 on 4G, not to mention it wouldn't use as much bandwidth (even though it's a miniscule amount compared to the streamed audio).

In 19.0.108 it will cache 200 images, for a maximum of 5 minutes, so the memory doesn't go through the roof.
Are you looking at much more then that?

For what its worth, in 107 the cache didn't seem to work much at all for me, in 108 its a lot better now.

I have 843 albums in my albums view i don't see any issues loading.
And the image caches looks to be working pretty well.

This might give you a better idea of what is happening.
I reinstalled Gizmo and there was no change, could it be a problem with media player? Or the connection between the two?
It seems to happen worse when thumbnails are at large or extra large.

I managed to reproduce the issue on my tab when i set the thumbs to extra large, it never happened in medium for me.
I tweaked the image cache a bit more to be more aggressive on freeing memory, so the app cannot run out of memory, and it seems to have stopped happening for me now.

Considering that this issue already happened for you in 19.0.107, just another sign that the old image cache didn't work as expected.

It's definitely a lot better in 108, it just seems that if I jump into an artist to view the albums, then all of the artist cache is lost and has to be downloaded again.
