Standardising Cover Art
« on: February 09, 2014, 02:10:29 am »

Is there a batch way to increase all cover art to, say, 800 x 800 (which seems generally available)?

Is there then a way of seeing what cover art has not been added at 800 x 800?

Thanks!

There's no way to automatically have MC increase the cover art size.

If the cover art is embedded, getting the dimensions can be done, but requires a little work.

If the cover art is external, you can import the cover art into MC, and then it will be under Images, and you can see the size using the Dimensions field.

Thanks MrC.

So that I understand properly, I have my cover art embedded in the files only. I think I am happy to leave as is at the moment. The resolution is high enough for now.

The more important question is I cannot seem to work out the difference in the cover art page between:

Next to the file as Artist - Album.jpg
Next to the file as Folder.jpg

Do some people want the cover act in the folder as well as embedded. If so, why? And what is the difference between these two folder options above? Thanks!

Thanks. Do you mean windows media player can start stripping out embedded artwork from tags?! Thats really bad

I am going to embed plus save down in same folder, called cd name, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks

I dont understand why anyone would want it called folder.jpg?

The difference between the 2 options is how the jpg is named. I use Artist - Album so I get a jpg in the Album folder named the same as the artist and album.
Here is an example of a full path to one of my covers
D:\Music\Pink Floyd\The Wall\Pink Floyd - The Wall.jpg
if I used Folder.jpg I would get this
D:\Music\Pink Floyd\The Wall\Folder.jpg

If you access your media outside of MC, certain programs (Windows Explorer for example) treat folder.jpg as special files.

Options>File Locations>Cover Art>Audio Mode: in the same folder as the file (as folder.jpg). Then select all files, right click and go to cover art>save cover art to external location specified in the options
