We are sorry, but your 30 day trial period has expired ?
« on: February 19, 2002, 11:30:15 pm »

Hello.

I just installed the new beta version 8.0.207. And now I can't start the M.J. !?!
I only get the message:
"We are sorry, but your 30 day trial period has expired", then the program exits.
The previous beta version worked just fine.
Now to my REAL problem.

On my machine I have a program that always checks for newer versions of software that the company that I work for (Ericsson) has installed before running. The problem here is that when I uninstall M.J. this program stops to work and therefore I can't start any other program on my computer !
This is due to that my computer can't run .VBS files after uninstalling M.J.
Have you installed some kind of copyprotection or something in the new version that can explain this ? It is VERY important for me to know this.

If I install M.J. again my computer works but I can't start it of course...

What to do ?

No idea what that problem could be.  Try reinstalling your company software.

Let me know if that won't work.  I can check further.

I can't reinstall my companys software. It is done centrally and it would cost me to do so. Ericsson is a fairly big company and we use something called ESOE (Ericsson Standard Office Environment) to make program installation/updating easy.

Why isn't M.J. starting in the first place ? I thought it was freeware until you used the plus functions. I haven't done that and now I'm sitting here with a software that I can't uninstall and that doesn't work !

Please have a closer look at this !

Why not just buy the MJ plus?  That way you'll have MJ running AND your internal software.

7.2 is shareware with a plus version option.
8.0 is trialware for 30 days, then a purchase is required.

Why is that Jim?

What made MJ so great was that "plus" thingy.
The reason I will never buy MJ is that I don't have a CD-Burner and neither a portable device. I just need it's library abilities and that was exactly what MJ 7 gave me for free.

Nobody's saying you have to upgrade to 8.

I think what doof is saying is at 7.2, MJ Changed From Shareware To Trialware

if you run 7.2 you can continue to use that.

MJ 8 requires a "Buy" after 30 days

Glad you clarified that, Doof.
What King said made no sense at all.

>>The reason I will never buy MJ<<
Give me a hint how can I use windows for 30 days. I don't like XP but I am suck with it. Any help would be appreciated. You do get 30 days on 7.2 and free on the basics I don't think Mr. Bill would give you 30 days when you had 3.1 to upgrade to win 95 I think you had to buy it.

Microsoft does offer 120 day trials of some of their more advanced software. I have 120 day trial CD's of 2000 Advanced Server, Datacenter Server, and some others. You typically have to go to a Microsoft Seminar to get them, though. Which isn't too bad. The last time I went, I won an X-Box game (I don't have an X-Box - but maybe now I have a reason to get one?).

And you can typically run beta versions of MS's operating systems, but you generally have to buy those as well.
