Auto import analyzing entire library
« on: May 03, 2014, 01:31:20 pm »

Is there a reason why auto-import is analyzing my entire library if I make any changes to the settings or run now?
It doesn't appear to do anything.
If I just let it do its thing it doesn't appear to touch anything but my import folder.

I have a single folder defined for auto-import.

Why does it spend 10 minutes analyzing my entire library after a manual run?
I suppose it doesn't matter since it is not something you would normally do but why does it concern itself with anything other than the import folder.

Post processing steps are applied to the entire library when you force a manual run, and once every two hours.

Background processing only looks at individual changed files within Watched Directories (it doesn't even scan those directories themselves).

Once it finally does all the analysis - any manual run should be very fast.

On my "maintenance" workstation - I do manual runs probably 10 times a day. Manual runs are invaluable to me as it does a complete check of everything, weeds out any dropped material and allows for a fresh backup each time.

I have no auto import on at all on this machine. Only our HTPC has auto-import running to get the latest and greatest from the server and ensure it's up to date for the rest of the clients.
