I had no difficulty at all installing MC on UBuntu 14.04 over the weekend. The FLACs on my NAS all appear, along with cover art, and basic function is fine - it plays everything I have. But it seems that many of the functions and features I expected are not there. I know the Linux version is still in dev, and it doesn't do everything that current Windows and Mac versions do. But without knowing what it's supposed to do, I can't tell if I've done something wrong or if what I can't find simply hasn't been ported yet.
I paid the $25 fee and got the install key - but nothing seems to have happened as a result and the "about" dialogue box says I have 0 days left to use it. I saved the email message with the link as instructed, and I saved the attached install key as a separate file. But the menu functions for installation don't seem to do anything, and as far as I can tell, my instance remains unregistered despite having paid the fee. How can I activate my MC on Linux so it knows I actually paid for it?
I tried to rip a CD, but nothing happens in MC when I insert one and I cannot find an option to rip in any of the menus or submenus. The disc is recognized - a disc icon appears on the desktop and I can play it through Audacious. But there's no sign of it or its tracks anywhere in MC, so I can neither play nor rip it. Is CD access for playing and ripping not yet active?
I set up the server as instructed and forwarded 52199 to the machine running MC. I can access it fine with Gizmo on an Android over my LAN, and it works completely. I can listen on the Android or the server and all remote functions work fine. But I can't access it over the web by entering the access key into
http://jriver.com/webgizmo.html. Is web access active for the Linux version?
The MCs I've seen on Windows and Mac are great, and I look forward to achieving the same on my Linux box. But it would help a lot if I knew what functionality is and is not available as this is developed from beta to production.
Thanks!
