Hi,

I have been using and enjoying media center MC19 with Windows 7 and have been loving it!

Today upgrade to Windows 2012 R2 with MC19 but while playing Video , Getting an error message "failed to connect video renderer to video decoder ".

Tried setting video to Red October standard. Also tried Hardware Acceleration: Off/On but No Luck.

If i put the Video Settings to Red October HQ , then the video is running Haltingly (Slow/Not Fluently)

Motherboard - Gygabyte 78LMT-USB3 (Micro ATX Board)
Inbuilt Graphic Card - Integrated ATI Radeon HD 3000 graphics

Can someone help to resolve the issue

You'll probably need to install the "Desktop Experience" feature, its required for a lot of the media functionality.

Try these instructions here, its for Server 2012, but the process is pretty much the same on R2.

Just so that you're aware... Running Windows Server is not for the feint of heart.  It isn't just Windows 7 (or Windows 8 for that matter) with some extra tools slapped on.  It is a whole... Thing.

The Desktop Experience feature will probably fix most of your issues with MC.  But, it gives me pause a bit that someone who doesn't even know about the Select Features wizard is running Windows Server, I guess.

I guess I'm asking... Are you in way over your head?

Thanks to all of you as the problem got resolved after installing the Desktop Experience in Window 2012 R2.  But at the cost of sound quality.

I tried installing and uninstalling the Desktop Experience, Without it the sound quality is way way better.

Is there any-other way of resolving the problem without affecting the sound quality

+1

I've seen it recommended on other forums, but that is just bad advice.

By installing the Desktop Experience in Windows 2012,  I'm basically having VERY inconsistent video/audio sync issues.  the video sync is simply inconsistent. Have tried Red October standard and HQ. Seems to change the video delay a bit relative to the audio, but doesn't fix the inconsistency.

Can you advise

I'm sorry, but we can't help.  Please use Win7 or Win8.
