Is the Bluray menu will still be an utopia or can we expect  this feature in MC20? :)

1- Qobuz full Integration in theater view and gizmo would be so nice

2- Simple home automation interface from theater view and gizmo (just a screen with few customizable button and a simple Http command behind to start with)

+1 For number 2, that would be great, just start small.

1. In Webgizmo I´d like to have all songs listed on the album I´m listening to and the song playing marked as playing. Today only the cover and tracklenghth is showing.
2. If I l´m listening to an album in the Recent view I´d like the Artist to be shown as a link so I easily can click and see all the artist albums.
3. Statistics so I can see what albums I´ve listened to today or this month or last 6 months.

- presets (movie, music, voice ...) selectable in the osd  for JRSS for 2 channel mixdown would be great
- in theaterview when a movie is selected insert logos for video format (h264,mpeg2,...), audio format (ac3, dts, ...), resolution (720p,1080p), ratio (16:9, 2:35:1)
- add more eye candy to theaterview

Hello!

I am new in this forum, but I've been using Media Center for long time.

I use it for LIVE playing with a band. It is very useful, especially beacuse we have all text for songs made aas Cover art. When song begins, we see text in monitor.
Very good. But I wish two things, if it is possible:
      - is it possible to change cover art Picture at exact time (let say at 1:05) ? If text for song is too long for one page, I would like to change the page at exact time to continue...
      - it it possible to have navigation window all the time at the top of display - it hides after a few seconds....

Thanks for the answer...

A bit more love for playlists

1. Being able to star playlists, not just songs
2. Being able to add a user to the playlists
3. Minor: When selecting songs only from one album, and creating a playlist from them, consider the default name to be "artist - Album", instead of "new playlist"

Feature Request:

UI Improvement:
-Playlist on the left side instead of bottom in standard view

Motivation for this is that most monitor now are wider, 16:9 screen are standard.
We need vertical space more than horizontal one, and due to aspect ratio going wider, vertical space is very limited

The 12 shortcut bar decrease the vertical space even further.
JRiver on portrait, however really shine, i had it for a while, but madvr doesn't work in portrait.
I'm very well aware that i could simply double click and i would have it all on full screen, and i'm not supposed to be watching in standard view.
But sometime you really like the ease and access of the standard view while still watching/listening stuff.
Having the playlist incorporated on the left panel (as an option) instead of bottom would increase space while, of course maintaining the bottom playlist (enable/disable) for portrait user.

-Audio skipping option: 1,2,3,4 second backward/forward instead of 5 (like VLC)

-Keyboard shortcut for video skipping (Global) without x5 x20 x100.

-Midi controller support for VST

I don't know how much work it would be to implement that.
But if it was possible to link the DSP studio (or just the "VST engine" to a set of midi devices it would be amazing.
Right now there are plenty of VST's that can be used with a midi controller via a "learn fonction".

But it seems that the VST's can't find the midi controller.
It works in cubase, i guess it's because you can add your midi device in option

I can't add the midi controller in MC Option.
It would be great it the VST's in JRiver kind of knew where to look at to find the midi controller.

I don't know if it's my own limitation or the or the software that prevent me of using midi controller with VST's, but my Kontrol F1 wont work with it.

The only VST that i can use is AudioToCC
That one i can use to send Audio on my Control S2 VU Meter
That's the only one where i can select my midi device, most others use the learn function, but it seems that if they don't know where the midi device is located.

I am using now MC19 for half a year and are very happy with it. For the new release I would request the following two features:
1. Fully operating of the MC via touch screen (without mouse operation)
2. Image Section: I have scanned 10,000 color slides. They are between 30 an 10 years old, but all scanned in the last two years. That means an indication in MC sorted by date, album, author or similar doesn´t help. The images (also my new digital images) are organised in folders by year and event. A simple sorting possibility by folders would be great. These folders should be shown like the (audio) albums, may be with the first image on top. Via gizmo such a folder should be possible to choose and stream as a slide show to the tv (image show time should be adjustable).

Thank you for your consideration.

1. Amendment. I just modified the gizmo display on my android tablet (according to another thread in your forum). It shows now the requestet folders with one image on top. But if I tap "play" only the first image is shown, no slideshow. I have to slide manually through the images.
Unfortunately I didn´t find any possibility to arrange the same display on the windows pcs.

I Just upgraded from MC17 to 19 and not sure if this would have already been implemented in 19 or coming in MC20?
Requesting a button like a "favorites" in most browsers. That is if there are certain locations / views that I navigate to often, they woudl be available in a Favorites folder to get ther with a single click.
thanks

Requests:

-Built-in ISO playback support (for DVD and Blu-ray), no need for external applications for mounting ISO's.
-Tagging everything including videos without the need of sidecar files
-Option to save as XBMC compatible NFO files, instead of sidecar files (for cross-system compability)
- Better/proper support for custom third-party scrapers
-Sidecar support for ISO files (or ability to write embedded tags directly in ISO files)

- integrate Album Art Downloader to easier get good cover art
- when you copy and paste cover art establish short cut keys to do it faster

A few more from me, after remembering things and adding support to things other people have already mentioned.

12. Add per-file zone switching.

13. Add Sat>IP support.

14. Add support for video to Mini View - unless I'm doing something wrong, when Mini view is in operation it plays audio but doesn't switch to display view for video.

15. Allow MC to run minimised on startup and do not restore the window if it's minimised, after a video stops playing.

16. Add an easy way to display lyrics attractively (from the Lyrics tag, or online if no content present) when playing a song.

17. Allow Rename/Move/Copy to move files such as cover art along with the media files (presumably if the whole folder is moved).

18. Synchronised audio playback across zones - not convinced this is possible though, MC would need to be in direct control of the audio hardware, or buying into a protocol such as Qualcomm's Allplay etc.

19. Copy-and-paste view schemes between Theater View, DLNA, Gizmo, not just Standard View. And/or a view "repository" (may turn out to be a modified Standard View) so that views that are used in other areas automatically change when changed in one area. The difference between copying-and-pasting (views are independant) and linking/including (views dynamically change across all areas).

20. Add Zone Groups, i.e. an extension of zone linking. For example "Upstairs" consists of Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2, Bathroom, "Downstairs" consists of Kitchen, Living Room, Dining room, "Party" consists of all zones with volume levelling. May require separation of zones into Settings and Output Device (i.e. location) as at the moment zones are the combination of settings and location.[Earlier discussion]. Needs careful consideration though as to how this would interact with Zone Switch.

I don't ask for much, LOL!

Like a dedicated detached window for lyrics? I actually like this idea since my past go-to lyrics program, EvilLyrics, doesn't have MC support. Having it search online for lyrics would be amazing, but a way to edit lyrics too would be very nice.

Hi, I want to have the possibility to create audio favorite lists. By that all in the family can have a list and quickly filter out their own favorite audio. Putting all "daddys" albums in a playlist dosent give the same browser view and controls as from the audio menu. making a separate libary for each member will not work as we sometimes interact at the same time towards the server (playing on diffrent zones).

Some suggestions from us:
1. Albums can show more covers, the covers can change automatically
2. Support DVD-A, Blu-ray ISO, support navigation bar for Blu-ray files
3. Support Windows 64 bit
4. More options on memory playback
5. More support on Plug-ins from WAVES
6. Mic environmental correction
7. More connection with JRemote, such as covers and PDF file can display on JRemote when play a album. so we can read more information about the album.

I'd like to see some improvements to the DSP Section:
- Make the Parametric Equalizer Tab a generic effect that can be added multiple times. I'd like to have a seperate List of EQs for different "topics", so I'd add the Room Correction for the Subwoofer in "Parametric Equalizer 1", adjust the Crossovers and similiar Eqs in a seperate Tab for each of my Speakers. I'd end up with 8-9 organized tabs instead of squashing it all in 2 tabs.
- Let the user copy and paste entries of the Parametric Equalizer
- Enable Multiselection for entries of the Parametric Equalizer
- Give us the option to save and load the content of the Paremtric Equalizer in a documented format, so that I can write tools to ease the import process over manually entering every entry. (~10Eqs per Speaker alone for Room Correction)
- Though I know it's technically "incorrect", give us the option to define the slope of the shelving filters in db/oct. Q is the correct way, but tools like REW work with the db/oct system and having to calculate the correct q is tedious.
- Give us a way to define the number of output channels and the format independently. I would want to say I've got n channels, up/downmix to format x and then let me map the signals to the speakers. The current solution with Channel Options like "5.1 channels (inside 7.1 channel container)" feels like a dirty hack to me. What if i want 6.1 in a 7.1 channel container? I'd like more flexibility here.

I'll second natehansen66's +1 on these, especially on the last one.

The ability to add the subtitles when I transcode a video file (who already has subs inbuilt), I use the transcodeing to get it to my tablet for traveling, so noise can be a problem, so having the subs and the transcoded would be great (either inbuilt in the transcoded video-file, or as a srt-file "on the side)

I would like to suggest you make so that the program doesn't freeze up when it is waiting on a network connection. I often listen to music that's stored on a server on my home network and sometimes said network slows down or is overloaded. This causes MC to freeze and I often times have to force quit the program from the task manager.

Yeah, not sure if its a feature-request per se, but MC can sometimes have some too long pauses when thing are streamed over networks.

Ability to play my DVD-Audio ISO files (still the best audio format ever invented IMHO).   Unlike other DVD formats, DVD-Audio files must be either on-disc or in ISO format--expanding these special files to the TS directories won't work.  Please let me play my multitude of backed-up DVDA ISO files via JRiver!
DVD Audio tracks are PCM, compressed using the Meridian Lossless Packing format.
You can simply convert these to another PCM format (e.g. FLAC) using foobar2000 and the DVD-Audio Decoder Plugin.

Perhaps you have a reason to keep your rips as ISO, but I found it a lot more convenient to convert the tracks, since that lets me play them on other devices as well.
I wouldn't object to DVDA ISO support, but adding a new format (MLP) might be seen as a lot of work for little benefit?

Yeah, not sure if its a feature-request per se, but MC can sometimes have some too long pauses when thing are streamed over networks.
Caching not only the currently playing track, but say the next two upcoming tracks (or perhaps a duration like "10 minutes") in RAM, seems like it might solve this.

Emit an event on zone switch for automation (cref. http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=85798.0)

I use different channels on my amp for music vs video (basically sending the DAC directly to the integrated AMP while the video goes through the AVR). Currently I used my harmony for this. It would be nice to be able to blast an IR code when a zone switch occurs.

Since I have bad eyesight, I would like to see a change in the left side navigation area. I know you are building your player with speed in mind, But the navigation tree looks too technical, old and small. Though I like the technicality of JRiver, my eyes tend to think different. I know allot of time, eye candy interfaces rob performance but there has to be some way to overcome that. I personally like the interface of PowerDVD. Navigation looks more pleasing to the eye. If JRiver had an Eye-Pleasing interface then it would also look High-end. Don't get me wrong, JRiver is High-end. But in the end I also want JRiver to stand out on top of the rest. Anyway, the Navigation tree doesn't need to go away, I would just rather it improve with the times. :-).... Just something that is easier on the eyes would make the technical parts of JRiver more easy to use. Just like the options menu, it's halfway there. :-)

Most requests are in the video/television area but I find myself spending more and more time listening to internet radio and losing interest in TV. I find that MC is not easy to use for this - seems that the connected media section is intended for it but I find this clunky and limited.

I would like to request a specific Radio section, maybe within devices alongside television although a separate section would be better (as would TV), where I could easily add a stream URL, schedule one-off or regular recordings and which would display song/station metadata.  The process of adding a station should be simple - enter the station name, stream URL and possibly some other optional details such as country location.

The connected media section just doesn't easily allow this as it seems to be geared more for the addition of websites and not streams. The process of adding a stream in connected media is complicated - it requires unnecessary input (you select the 'add website' option, so is clearly not intended for this purpose).  I have seen suggestions in the forum to use playlists but these have been unsatisfactory work-arounds.  Also, BBC streams do not record.

I have looked for a dedicated radio program but the range is very limited and those available are poorly presented. I now use Radio Maximus which addresses all of these requirements but is a bit flakey (but still smoother than MC currently).  I would switch back to MC if this were implemented.

Yes that is true...but just like making an MKV out of a BD ISO, you lose some features.  DVDA discs have various forms of video on them by design (some such as Queen's "Opera" move the lyrics automatically and others like Emmylou Harris Producers Cut have some cool behind the scenes extras).   Plus, for me, its just cool to watch the old school 4:3 screen pop up as the original discs bring back a lot of memories.   Between the commercial releases back in the 2000-2004 heyday and the multitude of homemade ones to have well over 100 titles--I currently have a external HD case that connects both directly to my blu-ray player to play the ISOs and to my computer for downloads.  Until JR supports them natively, that's the only way to get the setup i want.

Interesting tidbit not many people realize:  Dolby TrueHD is actually the "evolution" of DVD-Audio's MLP format :)

I may be the only one that is fine with Theater View the way it is. It works for me. I just want to see my movies, TV recordings and playlists since I don't use it for video streaming.

There has been a lot of chatter over the interface and I will +1 the Standard View getting a makeover. There is a lot of useful stuff that is really hard to figure out. Honestly I would be fine with no new features and just getting v20 (and Gizmo) to be the best, most stable and easiest version. Spend a year and just get this one really really good.

Either way I use MC a lot and will be upgrading.

Thanks for a great program, guys. I just pre-paid for MC 20.

I love the "Get TV & Movie Info" option for videos, in particular that you can correct the name and immediately see updated results.
My request is to have a similar option for music, cover art, and (as possible) other basic info like who played on the track/album, producer, etc.. I'm cleaning up my library, and often have to go to google or ?? to dl cover art. Not hard, but not as smooth as "Get TV & Movie Info". If it could retrieve lyrics and/or liner notes, that would be a dream.

I'd like to be able to specify the fields to display when mousing over a video cover in 3d view. IMDB (or TMDB, etc.) rating, My rating, Genre, etc.

+1 for DSP over DNLA if that includes volume leveling over Gizmo - my streamed workout playlists are all over the place, volume wise.

Apologies if these are already in the box and I haven't been smart enough to figure them out, yet...  ?

Theater View is really nice but that was not my point, I was just trying to encourage a UI enhancement. Even though I mentioned another media player, my intention was to give an idea from a certain part of said media player.

Okay, here's another.

- Updates to Noire for Windows 8.1-esk looking minimize/close/maximize/restore buttons when using Windows 8.1 for that 'native' feel instead of having Windows 7 buttons only. MC will probably need to be updated to detect which version of Windows you're using and use the appropriate set of buttons (Win 7 or Win 8.x). If needed, I've provided the image files as an attachment that I created and use in my altered version of Noire to help accomplish this. And here's the alignment/offset data which works perfectly;

Code: [Select]
<Entry Name="CloseButton" Platform="Windows" Bitmap="Close-win8.png" NumberImages="3" Alignment="2" OffsetX="-3" OffsetY="3" />
<Entry Name="MaximizeButton" Platform="Windows" Bitmap="Maximize-win8.png" NumberImages="3" Alignment="2" OffsetX="-49" OffsetY="3" />
<Entry Name="RestoreButton" Platform="Windows" Bitmap="Restore-win8.png" NumberImages="3" Alignment="2" OffsetX="-49" OffsetY="3" />
<Entry Name="MinimizeButton" Platform="Windows" Bitmap="Minimize-win8.png" NumberImages="3" Alignment="2" OffsetX="-75" OffsetY="3" />

1/2-star increments to ratings.
Oh, that reminds me - an option to set the "neutral" rating used for things like Play Doctor to 2 stars instead of 3.

With the current system:
  • Bad (Never Play)
  • ?
  • Neutral
  • Good
  • Great

With 2 stars being a neutral rating:
  • Bad (Never Play)
  • Neutral
  • Good
  • Great
  • Amazing

I don't see the purpose of having something which lies between Bad and Neutral.
Bad and Really Bad?
I'm not going to play either of those tracks.
That kind of granularity on a "bad" rating isn't helpful.

Extra granularity for good ratings, 3-5 rather than 4-5, is a lot more useful.

Personally, I don't find half-star ratings useful. It mostly seems to be a way to add more granularity to a scale where the lower half is useless, which shifting the neutral position fixes.
I wouldn't object to it being there as long as it doesn't interfere.
Perhaps handle it like iTunes where, if I recall correctly, you hold down the Alt/Option key to use half stars.

Oh! And the option to mark tracks as "do not play" without hiding them from view.
iTunes handles this rather elegantly with a checkbox.

The files still show up in track listings, but are skipped over during playback.

I would like tracks rated with 1-star to automatically be skipped over like this, but there would have to be a separate control so that it is not only 1-star tracks which are skipped over.

A minor one: pressing the back key on the remote in Theater View bringing up the exit options when you are at the root view would be really useful.
It would save me wasting a key on Esc or adding the exit option to the list.

However, pressing back on the exit prompt should cancel the prompt and go back to the root view, unlike Esc where hitting the key twice exits.

You do know that these settings are available via Standard View, in "Devices / Television / Recording Rules / Configure Recording" don't you?

It would be nice if they were available in Theatre View, from the Guide screen, but you would still need a keyboard to edit them, so switching over to Standard View and doing the edit isn't that hard or time consuming.

Note also that control over recording of reruns depends entirely on the information being available in your TV Guide data. Programs often aren't flagged as reruns, so MC records them anyway.

Nope didn't know that, I live in theater view. Thanks for the tip. And a keyboard should not be necessary, Windows Media Center does not require one to make those changes.

Per-tab/view height setting for the horizontal splitter in Standard View.
This would let you have a zone's playlist minimized in one view, and maximized in another, which would cover pr1me's request:

This is a split view with both sides displaying the same zone, with the playlist minimized in the left tab, and maximized in the right.
Currently when you try to interact with the tabs, it makes it so that both are either maximized or minimized, rather than allowing the height to be set independently for each.
Remembering the height for each view would also mean that I'm not constantly adjusting the height of the split depending on whether I'm viewing Albums, TV shows etc.

Somewhat related, it would be nice to have per-zone column headings.
I currently use a number of complicated expressions to change the data being displayed based on things like Media Type (see how the "Track #" column is displaying Episode #) but being able to use different columns in each zone would eliminate the need for that.

Would like to have MDAPI and/or Common Interface-support for the various DVB-standards. That would make it possible to watch encrypted channels here in Europe.

Is the Bluray menu will still be an utopia or can we expect  this feature in MC20? :)

I wonder if this might help things?

The 3 VideoLAN Blu-Ray libraries have been released: libbluray 0.6.0, libaacs 0.7.1 and libbdplus 0.1.1 library.
Those releases notably add correct support for BD-J, the Java interactivity layer of Blu-Ray Discs.

I just tested a couple of discs in VLC and the menus do seem to work.

1-GRAPHICAL EQ ... it's annoying to write frequency, bandwidth, and gain with numbers. Should not be difficult to make a WYSIWYG interface.
2-Apply a specific EQ depending on a custom tag (that will permit to have 1 EQ per song). Like tag "EQ" and the data will be the name of the saved EQ.

Song 1 : Tag EQ : Flat_EQ
Song 2 : Tag EQ : +5Bass_EQ
Song 3 : Tag EQ : Smiley_EQ

3-Maybee do your own JRemote ... this guy never reply a single email ... so I guess he don't offer support anymore.

+1 WIMP integration
+1 Audible integration
+1 UHD/4K handling
+1 streaming of any video formats to JRemote / On the fly transcoding
+1 Play to Gizmo / JRemote from MC
+1 better touch support and multiple screen handling (up to 3 monitors)
+1 create group inside of a group

Airplay and DLNA was not working well with my devices (independent to the MC). The only stable way to stream music to aonother devices is via Bluetooth. I think we need more support for this direction.

Apologies if this has been asked for above, anyway, here goes:

A right click / context menu option to "Open Link in Media Centre"

I'd love to do this from a web browser, especially for Utube vids and such.

I would very much appreciate improvements of Gizmo and of webradio access:

A) Gizmo:
* Cache thumbnails on the phone: It always needs time to load thumbs. After scrolling, Gizmo sometimes "forgets" thumbs which were loaded some seconds before and loads them again.
* Show file type / sample rate / bit depth for each file (e.g. FLAC / 44.1 kHz / 16 Bits).
* Show longer artist names / titles especially below cover art: I have a lot of music - mostly classical - where the description is cut. Therefore searching for my music sometimes becomes to be a try and error story.
* Allow to create playlists.
* Better use of tablets.
* Make Gizmo more user configurable: A phone / tablet specific possibility to configure font size, cover art size, the length of file description or - more generally - the amount of provided information (e.g. bit rate,..).

B)  Webradio:
* A "Meta Page" where one could search for webradio stations (including bitrate) and for webradio station cover art.
* Show covers art of playing songs (some stations like Linn Radio would provide them).
* Search for webradio stations on the android tablet (my audio PC does not have a monitor): I have found a "workaround" for this: I use XiiaLive pro which allows to search in Shoutcast (search can be reduced to "audiophile" radio stations with high bitrate and bookmarks can be set). XiiaLive pro sends the webradio-URL to BubbleUPNP and BubbleUPNP sends URL zu MC. After this I tag the station per hand in MC...  It would be great if I could do all of this with Gizmo.
