Dialogs solid here so far with GTK on openSUSE Factory x86-64.  Tried "Open Media", import/export smartlists, backup/restore library....nice.

(this is a machine used for dev work with GTK# so all that stuff was already loaded...fwiw)

Very strange reproducible audio stack issue:

1) MC is set to internal volume and playing a song;
2) I start a movie playing in VLC.
3) As expected, I get no sound from the movie, but VLC's volume control now controls the audio volume from JRiver's output!

Testing environment is Arch Linux running Gnome 3, JRiver is set to output to "ALSA: front" targeting the built-in soundcard.  I can test some other desktop enviroments if that would be helpful.

I'm pretty sure that if you have Gnome 3, you have Pulse installed and active. I'm also quite sure that that will grab any audio, including stuff sent to front or other hardware devices.

I see importing Library and Settings from a Windows version now works, being able to browse is very nice .

Obviously all the file paths are wrong, showing as D:\etc

So, I change the option to Update database to point to new location (no rename or move).

Find: D:/
Replace: /mnt/Media/

The path changed from:
D:\Music\Artist\Album\Track
to
/mnt/Media/Music/Album//Track

Where is that second forward slash coming from? I fixed it by running the find and replace a second time and replaced '//' with '/'.

MC no longer sees the 'st' device. The 'sysdefault:CARD=ST' doesn't work. Front: device works though.

Also, sometimes when I start MC it sees no devices at all. I'll get a 'playback can't be started' message and when I go check the playback settings all I see is 'more'. I'll restart MC and all devices are back.

My license info is gone, as are all my settings and library. I see it created a new directory for Media Center 20, but it would be nice if it migrated the version 19 settings.

The DSP dialog window had it's content scaled for the wrong window size. I resized the box after which it corrected this, but when I opened a resample pulldown menu the entire window froze. The menu wouldn't close and MC froze up. I had to kill the process and restart MC.

Good catch, I thought I'd successfully disabled pulseaudio, but it snuck back into my process tree.  Thanks for the workaround (although it sounds like some parts aren't working correctly at the moment?).

With the workaround I don't think there's any need to disable or remove pulse at all, it will often cause more problems than that it will solve. Pulse actually works pretty well for what it was designed to do for the most part. For the applications that need bitperfect or better audio quality in general, just use the device created with the workaround.

There are also tweaks for Pulse to make it use a better resampler and/or higher sampling rates.

(although it sounds like some parts aren't working correctly at the moment?). 

I don't think that's a problem with the workaround although I'm not sure. I need to check whether other applications have trouble seeing it as well.

With a previous version it definitely worked, I used it while troubleshooting DSD playback with the Teac DAC. The device created with the workaround worked with MC.

The problem starts after loading the "libboost_regex.so.1.54.0". MC 19.0.160 runs fine, even with link set to the same lib.

Just tested some other applications; VLC, Audacity, they all see all devices including the ones created with the workaround.

Can't imagine why but it seems MC doesn't like them anymore.

Getting odd behavior with the library. Started off ok, imported ~13000 files and good to go. Then I attempted to import settings from v19. MC20 didnt like the file. And since then, it has a blank library. I attempted to import again, which completed but no files were present i.e. no albums etc. Tried again with a new library, same thing.

It appears that there is more breakage in the alsa libraries for the device list hinting when you do it card by card on some systems.
I think I'm going to revert to the old method. Unforch this is known to occasionally blowup on x86 libasound 2.0.0. It does seem to get all devices on all systems though. Perhaps the authors will fix it some day.
