Library Sync Tool - Not syncing all Playlists
« on: April 08, 2015, 05:53:11 pm »

Hi,
I am using jriver Lib Sync tool to sync two Pc's Playlists (playlist only).
I use a windows sync program (allway sync) to sync the files, so both Hds are identical!
Only about 70% of the playlists are synced to the second Pc,  The others 30% show up, but empty.
Any help will be welcome.

Thanks

I've never tried it, but I think you could set up the drive of the second PC as a Handheld device, then use the Handheld sync to drag playlists to it.

Hi Jim,

Actualy, the sync tool is pretty good. I want to know why some playlists did not sync, show up empty.
I want to continue use the tool.

Thanks

My guess is that the files in those lists are not imported into the second Library (or are not in the correct location, more precisely).

MC's Playlists are lists of file keys in the database.  If the file key does not exist, then it is removed from the list.  So, if the files contained in the list are missing (because they're in the wrong place, or not imported onto the second computer) then they would be missing from the lists on the second computer after you sync.

Is there a way to change how the playlists works? The database-connection thing causes trouble (in instances like this, when files are moved etc), what is the upside of doing it like this? Or eventually have an option make the playlist work as regular m3u-files when it comes to referencing files?

Hi Glynor,

I sync the files using Allway sync program (great btw). All files are in the same location, as the sync program duplicates the second Hd.
I am really curios why some of the playlists show up empty.

Thanks
