That's not the first time I upgrade MC from a previous version to a new one (using MC since V13), but it seems that it doesn't always behave the same.

I'm usually an early adopter, so:

- I start by installing the new license over the previous version (few weeks before)
- When available I install the new version
- I uninstall the previous version

After having uninstalled the previous it seems that MC is losing the license, and it is asking it again.
Is it the expected behavior?

I normally only install the .mjr license file into the version that it was purchased for. I don't really understand why you would want to install an MC20 license on MC19 if you already have an MC19 license. Seems unnecessary.

Yes but when you buy the license some weeks before the release, it's a valid license for the previous version. So as soon as I bought the upgrade I've updated all my server and client licenses.
My point is mainly about what's the right process to maintain the license (without having to restore) while uninstalling the previous version.

Thanks Jim, that's what I thought, but it's not the behavior I've seen on two boxes.
I've to investigate.

Are you using a registry cleaner?  They can do bad things.

That's it! Thanks Jim. The two boxes are the pc of my kids and I've installed a tool that does some clean up after uninstalling. That's usually a good thing for all the stuff they install but not for MC.
