[SOLVED] Ubuntu install questions
« on: September 17, 2014, 04:38:42 pm »

Not sure if this is considered a bug or not, since you mentioned it might not work on 64 bit systems, so if it is the wrong spot I apologize.

I am running Ubuntu 14-04 Unity, 64 bit.  I installed 20.0.16 without error (I was able to correct all dependency issues when I installed 20.0.15).  I also installed libgl1-mesa-glx and attempted to install libgl1-fglrx-glx, not sure if the latter installed properly.  All references to that one are for Debian, which is what I attempted to install.

The problem is that when I play a video the audio plays perfectly, however the video does not.  The MC page disappears, leaving the desktop visible, then every 2-3 seconds there is a quick flash of the video that is playing.  This continues for the duration of the video.  When the video is finished the only thing visible is the desk top.  I can not get MC to open back up.  The only option is to close MC and relaunch it.  I had previously tried installing both 13 and 15 and neither or those worked either.

If anyone has any suggestion on how to get this working I would be interested to hear them.  I know this is early days and Ubuntu isn't directly supported so it is not a problem.  Just thought I would ask.

I need to update the tutorial for video usage but I saw bob mention this in another topic for when MC crashes/gives segmentation fault errors; ldd -d /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 20/libJRPlayer.so

You can also try starting MC via mediacenter20 from the terminal and copy and paste the terminal contents here when MC begins giving you issues.

Have you been here?

Yes I have, thanks, and that is excellent.  Fortunately, I've never had any difficulty getting MC installed and running perfectly in Ubuntu.  I am just having some difficulty getting the new video functionality working.

Solved the problem.  Finally remembered that I have a 2 monitor set up (my TV is also attached).  As soon as I "mirrored" the monitors the videos play properly.
