DSD256, configuration info and buffering
« on: October 16, 2014, 04:48:48 pm »

In order to play 4xdsd on my dsd256 capable dac (yulong da8), I set up:
device: the yulong asio one
device settings: default one.
output encoding: 4xDSD in native format
bitstreaming: none

The playlist is a mixed one in terms of file types (flac, mp3, dsd64, dsd128, dsd256, all intermixed).
When I start playing, I have a speed/noise problems on each track, and all goes well (it seems, not enough time to play a lot of tracks and different playlists) if i set 500ms buffer (lower values give the speed/noise behaviour). Please note that the pc is a i7 one, 8GB ram, jrmark at 3200 and more, cpu at 8% playing non dsd (upsampled...) and 1% playing dsd, memory at 5-8%. Is it normal, the buffer size, in this situation? I tried with foobar and I have a normal, clear playing using the minimum buffering  ? (don't be sad, only a test :)
Furthermore, when the track is a dsd256 one, I have the error window "Playback could not be started on the output 'ASIO' using the format '1,4MHz 2ch'", but I can play perfectly dsd64 and dsd128...the only way to have dsd256 played is using "Bitstreaming; Yes (DSD)". I'm a bit confused...
