Hi
I always post on here when I have a problem, but actually JRiver is a great piece of software. It is very easy to turn a regular PC into a high end music player. Then there is all thee tinkering you can do under the hood.
I do have a problem though, but maybe it is my hardware. When i play music i occassionally get drop outs (like buffer under runs). I have tried the following.
@ Increasing the ASIO buffer
@ Increasing the buffer in JRiver (using larg hardware buffers)
@ Increasing prebuffering
@ Playing from memory
@ Checking memory/processor isnt being over used (i5 Haswell 3.2Ghz 8GB 1600Mhz)
My library is on a local secondary hard drive with plenty of free space.
One thing I noticedd was the "hard drive spinning" notice would pop up for a moment. All power management features for the hard drive have been disabled.
Also, and I may be going complely looney, but I tried listening from my NAS instead of the local drive and it didnt seem to drop out and also it sounded.......better! Like not as flat.... I dunno. Is this normal?
Insidently my primary hard drive is an SSD with windows 8.1 on and JRiver.
