Volume slider (Castius)
« on: November 05, 2014, 04:58:26 pm »

Make left mouse click on the speaker icon mutes volume. (Bonus sets the volume bar to 0)
Right click pulls up option menu.
Do this or similar

Left-click shows the menu and mute is the third choice in the menu.  I think that's really reasonable (as opposed to hard coding the left click to mute and forcing a right click for more).

Sorry, I'm not Castius, but anyway here are my two cents on this:

Hitting the volume icon to mute/unmute is a bit more standard. Perhaps making "mute" the first choice in the menu would be a good compromise. It reduces the mouse way and I'd guess not many people using left click and volume up/down on a regular basis.

Next build:
Changed: Made the mute command the top command in the volume menu.

Agreed. Click to mute, right-click for options. You don't need quick-access to those, and that matches standard behavior in other apps.

I would also remove the volume up/down options or change their functionality.
No-one is going to use a menu option which adjusts in 0.5 dB steps.
Maybe 5-10% steps would be useful, but I'd just remove it entirely.
