Question about play DSD and PCM music
« on: December 11, 2014, 04:50:58 am »

Hello everyone,
I have a question.
When I played a PCM file (24 bits,176 kHz) then switched to a DSD file (using DoP format, 24 bits, 176 kHz),
the player didn't stop when switching files and it couldn't play DSD files.

How could I do? or which setting should I try?
Please help! Thanks!

If you want to send DSD audio to a DSD capable DAC, you'll need to enable DSD bitstreaming in Options / Audio / Bitstreaming

Thanks for your reply. :)

I have done the setting about "enable DSD bitstreaming in Options / Audio / Bitstreaming".
When I played a PCM file (24 bits,176 kHz) then stopped it, next I played a DSD file (using DoP format, 24 bits, 176 kHz). It's OK.
But when I switched PCM to DSD at that time the PCM file was playing, it  still couldn't play DSD files. ?

It may be that the device isn't switching.

So you're saying if you queue up two tracks to play, one PCM and one DSD, the playback will stop when it gets to the DSD file?

In Audio / Device Settings... have you got "enable exclusive mode" checked?  Try changing that setting to see if it makes a difference.  You can also to enable/disable integer mode playback.

Do you have memory playback enabled?  If so, try disabling.

You can send a log file after the problem occurs to logs at jriver dot com and we can check if there's any useful info in there.

Like Jim said, it could be the device or it's driver.
