Search problem
« on: January 08, 2015, 10:04:15 am »

I am imported all my music on one drive.  For certain artists, when I go to JRiver and click audio > files, it should bring up all music; it does not.  On the right hand side, in the search field, if I search a certain artist, for example Gould, it brings up nothing.  I have several CDs of Glen Gould imported, yet it brings up nothing.  When I switch to Windows Explorer and the music directory, open the folder and double click on the file, it will play the track in Media Center.  While track is playing, you can see the name of the song on the top of the screen.  I place the cursor on it and click on Locate on Disk (Inside Media Center); it will bring up all songs from the disk being played.  I highlight all, add all tracks to play list.  Next time when I search for the same artist, it will bring up only those songs in the play list; it I repeat the process for all disks then search will work.  I tried to re install JRiver and it didn't help. What is wrong?

Thank you.

Is it possible the files are not imported?  You need to set up auto-import and make sure it's looking at your music folders.

And as i mention before i was able to use "Locate on Disk (Inside Media Center)" to find all tracks.
Is it not a proof that they already imported?

No.  Right-click > Import Into Library the files in Playing Now.

the fact that the function  "Locate on Disk (Inside Media Center)" was able to find tracks in the media center confirms that files was already imported.

No it doesn't.  That would work fine on non-imported tracks.

Well first confirm that importing solves the search issue.  Yes or no?

If the files are seen by windows and are not imported, you need to configure autoimport correctly. Make sure you include the paths where the files are located AND to include the file types. If there are ISO files you need to click on data too don't forget.

Here is how http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Auto-Import
