JRiver Media Center 20.0.61 for Debian
« on: January 22, 2015, 03:12:14 pm »

http://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter-20.0.61.deb

20.0.61 (1/22/2015)

1. Fixed: When spectrum analyzer stopped it was still redrawing on the screen causing unnecessary cpu usage.
2. Fixed: Master license details.

20.0.58 (1/20/2015)

1. NEW: Selecting audio streams in Video files.
2. NEW: Chapter selection in the OSD and context menus for videos.
3. Fixed: Freezing at the end of .ac3 audio tracks.
4. NEW: Accepts Master license.

20.0.57 (1/16/2015)

1. Fixed: DSP Studio presets could not be saved/loaded/deleted.
2. Changed: Internal coding changes to satisfy GCC. Ideally this will do away with some difficult to reproduce bugs.
3. Changed: Desktop file. On Unity systems this will make all of MC's windows to show up at the same Icon in the bar.

20.0.54 (1/8/2015)

1. Changed: Newly created windows should always be in the foreground now.
2. Changes from the mainstream. Note that if you are using client side volume leveling over DLNA and are using MC on multiple platforms, all builds need to be >=20.0.52 for this to continue to work.

20.0.50 (12/19/2014)

1. Fixed: Mouse pointer changes on hover over actions work now (like resize, change split, etc).

20.0.49 (12/16/2014)

1. Changed: Upgraded to cURL library 7.39
2. Fixed: Numeric keypad characters that were being ignored.
3. Fixed: GUI, disabling input in background windows.
4. Changed: GUI, greatly increased speed in operations inside of MC's windows. Fixes playlist lists, reduces CPU usage.
5. Fixed: Convert format when changing the destination path.

20.0.46 (12/05/2014) (Changes from the main branch)

20.0.43 (11/25/2014) (Changes from the main branch)

1. Fixed: Clearing "Now playing" from a remote will not pop up a confirmation box now.

20.0.42 (11/21/2014) (Changes from the main branch)

1. Fixed: DLNA: MC as renderer, when receiving a SetNextAVtransportURI, MC was allowing the playlist to grow beyond 2 items which is incorrect. This caused playlist sync issues.
2. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller, fix bug in event send when changing playlist position 1.
3. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller timing issue, make sure the first track is playing (for at least 5 seconds) before doing the SetNextAVTransportURI function.
4. Fixed: DLNA: MC as controller, when playlist position current +1 changes send a new SetNextAVTransportURI to devices that support it.
5. Fixed: The change from 20.0.31 (Back out library server hiding when the library is empty introduced in 19.0.71) missed the library server visibility (it was showing the DLNA servers).

20.0.33 (11/10/2014)

1. NEW: Support for thumbnail grabbing from video files.
2. Changed: Matrix height correction when using gnu unifont (it's got a bug in it's size specification).
3. Changed: For SSL network operations, use TLSv1 instead of SSLv3.
4. NEW: Support for Shorten and Opus audio playback using the new JR playback engine (using FFmpeg).

20.0.31-1 (11/1/2014)

1. There was something off about that last upload build (version number was wrong for one). Replaced with 20.0.31-1

20.0.31 (10/31/2014)

1. Happy Halloween  ;) Just changes from the main branch.

20.0.27 (10/24/2014)

1. Fixed: Filesystem character problems in Rename, Move and Copy files.
2. Changed: Added hinting to window creation to try to get the window manager to move and resize windows in larger increments.
3. Fixed: CPU usage, especially during the drawing of the Spectrum Analyzer during playback, bug introduced in 20.0.22

20.0.25 (10/16/2014)

1. Changed: More UI changes. Extra desktop hinting on window, title bar and icon creation. Suspend desktop hinting when moving or resizing the root window. Attempt to fix initial window placement issue. Needs testing.

20.0.23 (10/13/2014)

1. Changed: More UI changes. Needs testing.

20.0.22 (10/9/2014)

1. Fixed: Video Playback crashed on stop when playing from a library server.
2. NEW: If using the system volume control and there is no mixer for the PCM device, we'll fall back to using the Master mixer for the device.
3. Changed: UI fixes. Startup position and position of popup windows should be stable now. This includes the controls in fullscreen video mode.

20.0.20 (10/2/2014)

1. Fixed: https protocol broken in 20.0.18
2. Changed: Switched to gnutls from openssl for https support because of a bug in the openssl static libs that prevented some websites certificates from being verified (i.e. twitter)

20.0.18 (9/26/2014)

1. Fixed: JRWorker segfaulting occasionally prevented some file types from being recognized.
2. Fixed: MediaCenter also occasionally segfaulted on exit.

20.0.17 (9/19/2014)

1. NEW: Implemented the file "locate" function.
2. Fixed: Menu items that open a URL in a browser.
3. Fixed: Disabled menu items unsupported on linux.
4. Fixed: Default for managing links changed to external browser.
5. Changed: possibly more ability to play Internet streams. Needs testing.

20.0.16 (9/16/2014)

1. Fixed: Series and Season cover art downloaded to the wrong folders.
2. NEW: Video playback supports playing from a library server.
3. Fixed: Last.fm scrobbling.

20.0.15 (9/12/2014)

1. Fixed: Fullscreen video playback is functional.
2. Changed: The video renderer uses VSYNC if available in the graphics driver.

20.0.13 (9/8/2014)

1. Fixed: Corrected the latency calculation for the ALSA output.
2. NEW: Video support.

Hello,

I confirm the DSP Preset issue deletion has been solved with 20.0.57. Thanks for that.

However segfault on track change is still there.
I cleared DSP field for all my audio files to disable DSP Per Track feature. It is more painful to set one equalizer for all kind of music, but at least MC works fine that way.

Here is another non specific version issue. MC segfaults if I open audio device settings while playing and only if I stopped playback before.
It makes sense in the linked video.
www.cassfras.fr/jriver/JRMC_segfault_20150122.wmv

I can reproduce this issue on demand, with others audio output (hdmi audio). So it's not related to the DAC.
Pausing playback instead of stoping playback won't segfault.

[79551.936824] mediacenter20[25716]: segfault at 170 ip b6b8e824 sp bfcf11c0 error 4 in libJRTools.so[b6953000+40d000]

You can see in the attached log file too.

I installed this version as well in pursuit of the master license... I think the erratic window behavior is back...

It is near impossible to move the MC window... it either completely disappears or it gets stuck on a corner of the monitor with half of the window not visible...

The upgrade to master license option doesn't seem to work... I got emailed two new restore keys (selected the option two times) by email with a decrease in the number of available restores...

What build are you comparing it to for window behavior?
Distro, Desktop Manager and Window manager please.

On Linux, if you want to use the master license you'll need to enter it via the command line option (since there is already a normal linux license installed).

Hello All.

I would like to report a successful install on Ubuntu Vivid Gnome.  http://ubuntugnome.org/  This version is using Gnome 3.14

With the new .desktop file, the Gnome favorites bar is tracking Media Center Properly.

I am also experiencing whacky behavior when moving the Media Center window.  That is the window jumps all over the screen when it is moved.  Any more information I can provide on this?

The most important report would be if you had a previous build that didn't exhibit that behavior and what that build number was.

I am running Debian 7 (recommended standard) with lightdm / XFCE...

Nothing happens when I select the upgrade to master license... i.e. I am not taken to the purchase page for payment... I simply get a new restore file by email with a decrease in the number of remaining installs...

Sorting by number of plays ascending in a "smart playlist" does not place items with no plays first.

i386 or amd64?
For any of the MC links to work you need xdg-utils and/or exo-utils installed. They will give you a web browser connection according to the open desktop standard.

Okay, I've got a couple of ideas and thoughts to pass along.

- Is it possible to add play, pause, stop, next and previous arguments for MC20? Something like mediacenter20 --play would control play, mediacenter20 --pause would control pause, etc. If doable, I can then submit additions to the .desktop file for Ubuntu users to control MC from the Unity right click menu.

- Add MIME types to the .desktop file. This is pretty straightforward, take a look at VLC's;

Code: [Select]
MimeType=video/dv;video/mpeg;video/x-mpeg;video/msvideo;video/quicktime;video/x-anim;video/x-avi;video/x-ms-asf;video/x-ms-wmv;video/x-msvideo;video/x-nsv;video/x-flc;video/x-fli;video/x-flv;video/vnd.rn-realvideo;video/mp4;video/mp4v-es;video/mp2t;application/ogg;application/x-ogg;video/x-ogm+ogg;audio/x-vorbis+ogg;application/x-matroska;audio/x-matroska;video/x-matroska;video/webm;audio/webm;audio/x-mp3;audio/x-mpeg;audio/mpeg;audio/x-wav;audio/x-mpegurl;audio/x-scpls;audio/x-m4a;audio/x-ms-asf;audio/x-ms-asx;audio/x-ms-wax;application/vnd.rn-realmedia;audio/x-real-audio;audio/x-pn-realaudio;application/x-flac;audio/x-flac;application/x-shockwave-flash;misc/ultravox;audio/vnd.rn-realaudio;audio/x-pn-aiff;audio/x-pn-au;audio/x-pn-wav;audio/x-pn-windows-acm;image/vnd.rn-realpix;audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin;application/x-extension-mp4;audio/mp4;audio/amr;audio/amr-wb;x-content/video-vcd;x-content/video-svcd;x-content/video-dvd;x-content/audio-cdda;x-content/audio-player;application/xspf+xml;x-scheme-handler/mms;x-scheme-handler/rtmp;x-scheme-handler/rtsp;
Obviously missing MIME types would need to be added.

- Add %u to Exec line in the media center 20.desktop file (e.g. Exec=/usr/bin/mediacenter20 %u). %u is a useful exec key that'll add Media Center 20 to the open with list of programs (currently missing). Should also be a step closer in allowing .mjr files to be associated with MC (should be possible once manually associated). Of course, this may need to be investigated further - one of the other exec keys may be better, not sure.

What's needed to set MC as the default program for .mjr files? Obviously, creating and installing a MIME type would be required (could do it when installing MC20, I guess).

I found this on that topic: https://wiki.debian.org/MIME

Seems pretty straight forward.

Bob,
Found another issue with ac3/CUE.  Basically, once playback starts for a track from the ac3 file w/CUE, playback seems to continue with the rest of the ac3 file until the end, instead of honoring the CUE def.

Pretty easy to replicate:
1.  Add a bunch of tracks to the playing now
2.  Add the tracks from a ac3 file/CUE to the playing now
3.  Shuffle and start playback
4.  When playback advances to a track that is from an ac3/CUE, it will then play the ac3 all the way to the end (not honoring the CUE track def) before advancing to the next track in the playlist.
5.  In addition, at this point, MC acts like it was with the other issues, the gui becomes non-responsive (all white-out) and MCWS commands are ignored, though it will continue to play to the end of the ac3 file.

Are you running the build from this thread?
If you are you should get to the correct place if you select help->upgrade to master license
If that doesn't open a webpage for you then you need to install xdg-utils and exo-utils (XFCE) or gvfs-bin (GNOME). If you have KDE you should already be set.

Bob,
I am running a bare bones X dummy install (poor mans Id setup) and I cannot get the upgrade to master license working.  I installed both xdg-utils and exo-utils and started JRiver with remote X display.  What else can I try to get the upgraded master license?  Is there a way to purchase directly from the website instead?

Thx

Edit: I installed xfce under VMWare and made the purchase but registration still says Linux version even after installing from command line.

mediacenter20 /RestoreFromFile "Media Center20 Master-284011.mjr"
License restored successfully from file Media Center20 Master-284011.mjr
Unloading the Shared Libs
Starting the Shutdown process
Exiting the App

The license is installed. There are 2 installed and it's only showing the original.
The next build will show the master in preference if it exists.

BTW when you started with the remote display, those packages needed to be installed on the remote (X Client) not your viewing (X Server) computer.

The windows version of MC has a stub file that sends these commands. I'm not sure that'd be a simple build. Will need to take a look.

The mimetype and a way to handle them which MC can do now as long as you add the /RestoreFromFile switch.
