[solved] Poppulse PC Digital Link 2 using JRiver?
« on: January 25, 2015, 06:24:03 am »

I have a Poppulse PC Digital Link 2.
My laptop (Thinkpad T440s) with Windows 8.1 is connected to it through USB.
The Poppulse appeas as "C-Media Usb" on my computer.
I have some flac files in 24 bits 88.2 khz.
I want to play them on my computer, using JRiver.
If I try wasapi for C-Media Usb (=the Poppulse), I get an error: file format not supported.
I can play the files only using DS ("direct sound").
How could I get wasapi to work?
Are there some drivers I could download for the Poppulse PC Digital Link 2?
The standard windows drivers seem to limit it to 16 bits on wasapi...
Thanks in advance,
David

Welcome to the forum.

Try Windows Control Panel > Sounds to see if you can play 24/88 to the device from there.

You can also use MC's DSP Studio > Output Settings to resample files that won't play.

Check with the manufacturer for instructions.

Thanks for your reply.
As I was saying, I can't do so from Windows.

But I ought to, since I can play the files under the Direct Sound (DS) option, instead of the Wasapi option.
So I don't want to resample with JRiver, just to find the proper drivers.

But I don't find what these are (using google) for the "Poppulse PC Digital Link 2", and/or looking at C-media's drivers on their website.

If it doesn't work from Windows, then it's not an MC problem.  It may be at the driver level.

Thanks.

In fact, the vendor has just told me that the machine (bought in 2009...) only supports 16 bits.
