License activation
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:29:52 am »

Hi, just purchased a master license and received the activation code, but trying to activate it (restore button) I keep receiving errors ("tThere was a problem communicating with the license server") so that I cannot go on and start the program
I definitely need some help!
Thanks for you attention

Make sure you have the most recent build installed.  They are on the Download Page.

The License Server is running.

Hi, The license activation for the $19.98 Master license worked, no errors. Help - Registration Info still shows registered Windows license. Should it say "Master license" anywhere? Thanks,
Mark

Update MC.  It should show then.

Tried that, says latest version, 20.0.63. Registration Info under Help says Product: JRiver Media Center 20 20.0.63. Next line reads (registered Windows license). Thanks, Mark

I'm having the same problem with one of my Windows XP computers.  The message I get is:

"There was a problem restoring the license.

Error details:
There was a problem communicating with the license server."

I have JRMC16 on this computer but I cannot activate JRMC20.  Is there a way to activate the license using Firefox or Chrome instead of Internet Explorer?

If not I thought maybe I could try moving the hard drive temporarily to my other Windows XP computer (that already has JRMC20 activated) as a secondary drive and try the license activation before moving the drive back to its original computer.

Please see Restoring a License on our wiki.  The version of the software and the version of the license must match.

If that doesn't work, please provide more details.  Are you running the latest build of MC20?

You can use the Install Key to license a second PC.

I am on the most current build as of today 02/04/2015.
I ran the activation, it says successfully restored, but on the licence info, it does not show "Master Licence"
To be honest, I do not care, so long I get the master licence to work when I install MC- Linux  in March.

Try updating MC to the version on the Download Page.

Updated to 20.0.66. Registration still says "(registered Windows license)" even though the license file for the master license installed without errors. Any suggestions? I assume somewhere the license should say master (?). Thanks
