 I can't  get a Blu-ray to play within your player. DVDs work. Using Win 8.1 with a Pioneer drive  BDR-2209. Details: failed to connect audio decoder to source splitter.  Help please.

I just downloaded Any DVD and now have picture but no sound.  Why so complicated?

Please read the wiki topic on Blu-ray.  Make sure sound is working otherwise.

Check the Windows mixer to make sure nothing is muted.

For sound issues there are two places to start your checks.
 
First in Windows Control Panel> Sound properties; what is the default audio device (JRiver WDM or something else like Realtek)? And can you get sounds from the device selected when you select it and click on properties >test?

Then in JRiver, Tools>Options>Audio what is the device selected there? The under Audio device settings do you have "bitstreaming" set to "none" or something else?

Lastly, in Audio section under DSP studio >Output Format, do you have anything setup there (under "sample rate" and "channels").

The answers to these questions, I think, will help us figure this out for you.

Got it to work perfectly after a bit playing around. Had to set in DSP studio, source numbers of channels.   This set up procedure for playing movies via JRiver is definitely not for the novice. Many people have a hard time just programing the time on a microwave. Oh.....that was my 1st ever Blu-ray play in my home. I'm a music nut EH

That's true. Myself included.
I wonder how many people gave up on the "trial version" and moved on to some other program over a simple setup error. Maybe someday JRiver will be able to create a "built in" setup guide for the "technology challenged" individual.

I was surprised being in a music and video managing center that I had to get additional 2nd party software to play a rotational 12cm plastic mirror.

JRiver does not include the programming to "unencrypt" the copy protection on the BD disk. That's what AnyDVD HD does.

If JRiver were to include this programming, they would have to agree a bunch of licensing requirements which would essentially kill the program for those of us that like to rip our movies to the computer.

So it's best for us that we continue to use ANYDVD or another means (such as makeMKV or DVDFab) to read the discs, and leave JRiver to do the stuff their good at.
