JRemote could not connect any more to my HTPC
« on: March 25, 2015, 03:37:15 pm »

Hi

since last Weekend after ~2 great years with JRiver, JRemote could not connect any more to my HTPC.

- Finding Computer addresses associated with Access key ...
- Response received
- Found 2 addresses
- Connecting to IP (My HTPC IP Adr.) Port 52199
- Timed Out
- Connecting to IP *.207 Port 52199
- Could not connect (Error: ConnectFailure (Connection refused)

I have put Windows Firewall off: Problem remains
Internet in General is accessible
Playing Music/Videos using Theatre or Standard View works
Ping to all IP adr. in the Network works.

I have also generated a new Access key but it does not solve the problem.
DLNA is enabled
My Environment: Win 8.1 64 bit, MC20.0.84

Any ideas what to do?

Thank you very much for your help!

Manfred

Any Ideas.

The wiki has a topic called "Network Access" that might help.

Power everything off and back on.  PC's, Access Points, cable modems, everything.  Start turning them on back at the wall and wait a couple of minutes to let each one boot.

Thanks Jim for your reply!

I red the article in the Wiki. I restarted my Router and all other network components but it did not help. I have a second PC in a different room also with JRiver installed. On that PC JRemote has no Problems to connect with the server.

Seems a strange Problem.

If you can connect to one PC but not to the other, the problem may be a firewall on the one that doesn't work.  Sometimes antivirus packages have extra "features".

This has occasionally happened to me, it seems like the internal IP address changed via DHCP and the update didn't get reported.

You can try turning the media network on and off, which can regenerate a new Access Key.

Or you can try simply connecting JRemote to the server via IP address instead of access key.

One of those two methods should work for you, unless, as Jim pointed out, your configuration has changed and a firewall has started blocking stuff on your PC.  You can verify that by pointing a browser or telnet session to the IP address on port 52199.  For example: http://192.168.1.10:523199

Yours,

Hi,

I did a Windows System rebuild to a day before last saturday - now JRemote works as expected. So one of the various non JRiver Software updates was responsible for the error. I just did the update to the latest JRiver version. Everything works. So I don't know the excact root cause. I will do the various non JRiver Software upgrades step by step and look which was the root cause.

Thank you for your help!
