playback issue - little crack every 20-40 sec

I installed MC 20 on small 2GB laptop, linking to already existing MC20 library on shared drive.and I
I tested it using Audioengine D1 and good AKG headphones keep hearing cracks every 2--40 sec like CD skipping or static. 
Tried with many ripped CDs - the same result.
Changed playback options (play from memory) , buffering - nor results
Then I played the same tracks under foobar and it was OK, no static.
Any ideas what can be happening here?

Are you playing streams with ICY meta data in them?
