Drawing bug reported by Zrocker
« on: September 26, 2003, 07:52:28 am »

[copied here from the 260 build thread]

Bug:
1. Drawing bug that's been around for a couple of weeks now (since some drawing optimizations were implemented).  This has been reported many, many times by others...but, still not fixed:

Notice above track # 1 you can see the residue of an Interact message which was in the IE window shown just prior to restoring the MC window:

This happens with any MEGA-ME skin (not just Windows).

Z,
I don't see this (at least with PixOS):

It may be a video driver bug.

I am going to post here just what I posted back in the bug thread too.

I think this problem only occurs in Win2k? or maybe other OS other than WinXp.

I went back to Win2k 2 weeks ago and this problem was present too.

But since I switched back to WinXp, this problem have disappeared.

Edit: just to add that it occurs with the same video driver and also same directx version (9) if it matters.

JimH,

Apparantly, someone at JRiver needs to test this on Win2K PC as every Win2K user that has responded (here and in 260 thread) is seeing this problem.  It's obviously an MC bug and not a video driver bug...this problem only started in the last 2 weeks after MC optimizations...the last 7 months of MC use did not have this bug.

Thanks...>Z

Same problem here, Windows 2000.

EDIT: ATI Radeon 9500 Pro, Direct X 8.1b, Win2K SP2 + critical security and system updates.

In case it's asked: I will not be updating or changing any of the above for the sake of this issue.

I take it not everyone is using the same video board?

As with JimH I do not see it in Windows XP

Kingsparta, like I said, this only occurs with Win2k. And I don't think it matter with what graphics card as I am using the same graphics card for both Win2k and WinXP and yet the problem only occurs in Win2k.

If it helps, I am using a Nvidia base graphics card running the Det45.23 driver.  Maybe the folks here are running Nvidia base graphics card too?

I reported this bug since build .254 (it clearly started with this build on my system).  Nice that it get's a little bit more attention now...

It makes the whole GUI of MC look like it's broken or unfinished - for me, it's a real "showstopper"! I know some users who would immediately delete a program that is showing bugs like this... if the surface is not working clean, what maybe hidden underneath? But it's still beta and I'm sure you will be able to fix it soon ;)

Like reported in the bug thread, it appears in all lists (tracklist, panes, action window). I'm using Win2K and Matrox G550 with latest drivers. I used DirectX 8.1 but updated to 9.0b today - The result is the same.
I reinstalled build .253 and the bug disappeared.
I reinstalled build .254 and the bug appeared again.
I reinstalled all builds after .254 and the bug is present with all these builds (and all skins...).

Here is another example: http://www.futurehome.de/mc/listbug.gif

There exists another list drawing bug, but I can not say exactly when it started:
After horizontal scrolling the track lists to the right, the "List_HeaderBar" of the columns don't show "mouse over" hover effect and "mouse down" state. You can still sort the columns by clicking on them, but it also makes a bad impression to a new user when things like that don't work...
