Video Playback question
« on: May 17, 2015, 05:41:25 pm »

Please excuse my ignorance. I use JR mainly for audio but also for video playback.

Some videos played with JR allow me to fast forward using the progress bar in JR where other videos do not. When I click on the progress bar it just stays where it is.

My question is: How can I know if this would occur & how can I make all videos able to be used with the fast forward function.

Thanks in advance

Is it a certain file type you're having trouble with?

Did you try the latest build from the top of this board?  It's 20.0.108.

Also, are you using a library server-client setup, or are all the video files natively (or on a mapped disk) on the machine you are playing from?
Can you advance the position of playback by pressing the right arrow on your keyboard?

Yep.  We need a bunch more information to help.

If the files are local (on a hard disk in the computer you're using to play them) and they're doing that, it means the files were encoded poorly.  That's what MC does when receiving a live stream.  If a local file does that, it is marked incorrectly as a live stream and so seeking support is disabled.

If it is a client-server kind of setup, we need a bunch more information on how you have it set up.

Thank you. It does it on all different file types and all JR builds. I have  tried advancing with the arrow as well. The bar advances but playback is unaltered. I had all videos on the e- drive (on pc where music is), then I moved them to a WD remote drive and they are the same as before.

Its seems nothing common to all files that I can see. I remain perplexed. I cannot advance some files but some I can.
