Point Database to new NAS
« on: May 28, 2015, 08:35:11 am »

I have upgraded my NAS and want to point my JRiver database to the new NAS.  Initially I just let JRiver re-read the files on the new NAS but soon realized I had lost the original import date as well as items like number of plays and date listened.  I restored from a backup prior to the new NAS and tried just changing the file paths in the JRiver settings but it looks like JRiver is just re-importing again and I lose those items.  Is there any way to point the database entries to my new file location without affecting any other tags?  The new NAS has the same folder structure as the old...just a new name.

Thanks,
John

You need to restore your library, and then use the Rename, Move, Copy library tool in it's "Update Database" mode.  You'll want to use the "find and replace" template to change the parts of the file path that have changed.  Try it with one or two files at first to make sure it's working the way you want before doing all of them.

And the wiki topic on "Moving Files".
