MC20 | NAS - Delayed connection?
« on: June 16, 2015, 05:06:40 am »

MC20 is running directly 'Player' to enable me to play DSD files. (unable to play DSD over server)

WD NAS is always on, no sleep etc.

I turn my PC and Marantz network player on, PC and Marantz connected via USB.

MC20 starts up automatically on boot up, but seems to struggle to find or connect to my NAS in time, showing the below.. Ideas? I have to wait 20-30 seconds, clicking on refresh before MC goes yayyyy!

FYI, WD NAS 4TB, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, Marantz NA11S1, all connected via ethernet to switch (all AQ Cat7+ Cinnamon cables, except PC to Switch (old temp cable), currently)

Thanks in advance

This may be related to name resolution in your network. If you replace DARRENMYBOOK with the IP address of your WD NAS it will probably work better. i.e. \\ipaddress\Music\Tunes\DSF downloadss\  If this works you should make sure the WD NAS either get the same IP from DHCP every time or set a fixed IP on the NAS.

Do you have your MC library located on the NAS rather than the HTPC?

For UNC paths like this MC relies on Windows networking. I have seen similar problems in my own setup

Can you from a command prompt do net view \\DARRENMYBOOK
What about net view \\192.168.1.13

If one of those work, try 'Map network drive'. Use for example M: and map your media folder to M:\ and use this in MC library

I have no files located in my C: drive, no JRiver .jmd files

The .jmd files are located within the NAS

It will work better if the jmd files are local, not on the NAS.

Yes, but where is your MC library? See: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Library

so
net view \\

You can select the Library in Media Center and click "Clone Library".  Make the path an empty folder on your C drive.  The cloned library will show up in Media Center and you can load that one instead.
