MC20 Just Installed but "not responding"

I've downloaded and installed MC20 free trial today. The application opens ok and I select the following:
- to "continue" with the 30 day trial,
- to stop the automatic download of files
- the Tools/Import option to custom select the folders I want to import
- I get as far as being able to browse the folders to select what I want and then
- and at this stage it hangs - and "not responding" follows

I have read the many topics associated with this on the forum. I've uninstalled the three security programs, one-by-one, that I had running and uninstalled and reinstalled MC each time to try and isolate if either of them were the problem. Nothing has made a difference. I'm running it on Windows 7. Any ideas what the next step should be? I have a large collection of files but I can't get as far as accessing them to see what the program is like! Thanks.

Did you download from jriver.com?  If not, please do that.

Try importing just a single directory or file type.

It's possible that it's working but not responding.  Windows will do that sometimes.

Double check your auto import settings.  A typo could cause problems.
