I have tried to schedule a tv recording by setting the start time and duration. Once I hit "finish" in the scheduling dialogs, Media Center 20 fails to list the recording in the list of future recordings: "To Be Recorded".  I do see it listed in "Recording Rules". Why would a one-time recording be listed as a rule rather than as a show that is due to be recorded?

If you're just getting started, it would be best to download and install MC21.

If I understand you correctly you scheduled a recording based on time, not based on program.  Is there actually a program associated with the time slot? 

I just tried it and it does show up in “To be recorded”.  Make sure you are not filtering out the channel when you look in "To be recorded".  Select "All channels" or the particular channel that you scheduled your recording on, not any other channel.

There is a program associated with the time, but it is missing in the program schedule list, so I can't grab it that way. I am not filtering the "To Be Recorded" list. It just doesn't show up there.

That might be the problem.  "To be recorded" is based on programs entries.  If a recording is not associated with a program, it probably will not appear in that list.

Ok. It took a while to decide to look under that category. Now that I know to look there, I can live with this choice by the programmers.
