CLEAN uninstall MC 21?
« on: August 28, 2016, 05:08:13 am »

I now have the problem that my DAW (Presonus Studio One) crashes due to a "half-dead" MC 21 audio out.
How do I FULLY remove MC 21 from my computer now??
I had already uninstalled it and installed MC 22. But there seems to be some remains that are driving me nuts!

So what can I do?

Thx.

If you used MC's uninstall to do the job, it should be completed.

It may be a setting in your DAW.

What do you mean by "half dead"?

Of course I used MC's uninstall procedure!

But I currently have issues upgrading to Studio One 3.3 (crash on start!) which came out a few days ago and digging into the issue this came up in the log file of Studio One:

Code: [Select]
"...
2016/08/26 18:17:01.064 [Warning] (asioservice): UID conflict on class registration: JRiver Media Center 21 (AudioDevice ASIO)
..."

So either MC 22 uses a wrong version number (currently I have 22.0.21 installed) and it should be "JRiver Media Center 22" or there are remains of 21 left on my system. The other thing is the UID conflict which looks suspicious.

And ideas, hints, suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Presonius.  Is it a Sony product.  If so, try an Internet search for this problem.

When I do a "clean" uninstall, I first do the software manufacturer's uninstall. Then I go to the Control Panel and uninstall the software from there if it is listed. Next, I reboot and check my C: drive for any folders that the uninstalls did not remove. That includes the User and the Program Files folders. I reboot again if I made any changes. Lastly, I use my registry editor and remove any vestiges that may be unique to the uninstalled software. Sometimes that takes awhile to get them all. One last reboot and usually, USUALLY, the software is completely gone.

Usually.  ;)
