I have a feature request for streaming DSD over DLNA. It would be great if the "Add or Configure DLNA Servers" dialog box had a feature similar to the "Bitstreaming" Custom dialog box under Audio where one can choose "bitstream all DSD sample rates" or "up to DSD<rate>."
As a use case, I have an A&K SE300, which can stream up to DSD256. I have a handful of DSD512 files. When the device is connected via USB, I can use the custom bitstreaming to limit to a max of DSD256. When playing DSD512, it downsamples. All other sample rates (all PCM, DSD64, 128, and 256) process as-is.
When I instead use the device over DLNA, I cannot achieve the same functionality. I can either stream with mode "original", but then DSD512 won't play; only DSD256 and lower. If I change mode to "specified output only when necessary", I hit a few issues. For one, I can limit the 'when necessary' to DFF or DSF files, but then the rule applies to all DSD files, not merely DSD512. If I choose format as "DSF", it seems to default to DSD64 across the board and DSP studio has no effect. If I choose a PCM option, I get various options via DSP studio, but none are as clean or easy as the custom bitstreaming option under the Audio options.
Is there a chance this can be added as a feature either to MC32 or MC33? Or, if I am missing an obvious configuration option, please do tell me.
Thank you!
